GAIL's Bakery Muswell Hill
Still wonderful in mid October 2023!Cashless shops now so don't try paying with money. Dogs are welcome which is really lovely for nice dog owners!I've been buying Gail's bread for years from a branch of Waitrose. I now buy bread and pastries from this branch in Muswell Hill. We munch our way through bread and 6 to 8 baguettes most weeks, and lots of pastries. The staff seem never to be the same as the last visit and vary in their attentiveness.I hadn't 'eaten in' before this visit and it was the first time I've tried one of their coffee houses. I had a pastry and a coffee that was really very good. It's not cheap but it's nicer than the chain coffee shops you find in most high streets and their bread is lovely. I love the black olive Ciabatta and the baguettes. For a chain of 90 odd shops it retains a lovely feel. Thank you Gails.

Gail's is quite popular and I have tried their baked goods. Their sourdough bread is good. Their sausage roll is a bit steep especially with a few more bakeries and cafes nearby. I had a couple of lattes to go through different staffs. Each time the mix was different...might have been trainees.

This morning I went to have breakfast and I was very disappointed. I ordered a hot chocolate which was served in a tiny cup and a toast which came burnt and with a whole in the middle. I paid nearly £8 and I had to go somewhere else later to eat again. The tiny chocolate got cold waiting for the toast. Really bad experience. I will not go again to Gail’s. It’s a rip off.

Hardly listen to you when taking your order. Very overpriced for what it is… Go to literally any of the other emerging coffee shops in Muswell Hill. The bagel shop on the corner does a cheaper and better coffee, doesn’t charge you extra to sit outside and the service is top notch in comparison. Gails is nothing more than a corporate machine disguised as ‘your local coffee shop.’

Despite being part of a fairly large chain Gail's Muswell Hill inexplicably manage to blend into the Hill's homely atmosphere and add a bit of modern gold standard to the local cafe scene.Friendly and professional staff, who even when the place is extremely crowded in the morning never fail to cheer you up with a joke (if one needs cheering up) or respond to yours, which is rare in our age of raging NPCs taking over our banks and cafes.Triple macchiato in a small clay cup is particularly good this Christmas season!

I have visited Gail's for the first time to sit down and have a light breakfast with coffee. My espresso was a ristretto (very tiny and not enough water). My boyfriend's wasn't happy with a toast he ordered. He said that the bread should be cut thinner as it was difficult to eat. Serving staff is very kind and friendly. I think GAIL'S is known best for its bread. I have bought two different types of bread from them (sliced) and they were both exceptionally good! I would say 5 stars for the bakery but three for eating in.

Amazing. Best latte I’ve ever had and the pastrami bagel was delicious.
