Where to start...Matt is a born teacher... Soo clear and concise and just telepathic in the way he can see what you're going to say about the particular element of the dive, before you've even said it... He can see exactly where you're going wrong or what needs tweaking and gets it done!I've learnt more in 2 days diving with Matt than I have done in the years I've been spearfishing!His teaching is the absolute muts nuts!Couldn't recommend highly enough!Also... On a personal note... I originally booked on with Matt to become a more confident and better Spearo..I've now found a love for freediving... Having never done any formal freediving" as such it was a complete eye opener & I'm already looking at when I can get out next! An absolute mentally torturous physical punishment that I 'kin loved! Uses video as a complementary tool for analysis.Matthew is a very knowledgeable instructor on both topics of spearfishing and freediving. Having just joined Matt for a 2 day freediving and spearfishing course I wouldn't hesitate to recommend SFS. Matt is incredibly experienced and knowledgeable in both elements of the course and is a brilliant teacher.He was very accommodating in arranging course dates to suit us and tailored everything on the two days to suit our ability. His advice since has been invaluable.We'll be back next year for sure!

I did Wave 1 (Molchanovs Freediving) course with Matt, this passed weekend.Matt is a great instructor; thorough, focussed and light hearted. I had difficulty with the frenzel while diving, and he took the time to explore different ways of getting the method to work for me. It was invaluable.He walks the talk, is very knowledgeable but doesn’t over explain, which gives more time for putting the theory into practice.The quarry facility is good. As much as I had in mind the idea of learning to freedive in the sea; realistically the quarry made a lot of sense; no tide, no waves. So we (I) was able to focus on getting a handle on the technique in a controlled and safe environment.

I can highly recommend the 2 day spearfishing course with Matt for people of all levels. It covers the basics of freediving and spearfishing technique which allows you to go about spearfishing in a fun and safe way even if you have zero experience before the course.

The instructor : Matt was brilliant and professional. His way of teaching is very inclusive, calm and let us (students) bring in our expertise in our field. He had organised all the facilities required for the course (pool, quary).The Molchanovs training program: I ve been in the underwater training for a long time and this training is down to earth. Time is given for the important (in my eyes) stuff like EQ and Buddying system and safety rather than performance.Thank you.

Matt is a very friendly and knowledgable instructor and is accomplished in the freediving and spearfishing world. Having had training sessions with him i was able to progress my diving in a safe and educational manner and hit pb's i was struggling with previously. Deffinitely worth putting the time in with Matt! One of the best courses I've ever done! I started spearfishing a couple of years back with my brother and we've had some relative success, however I found my confidence in the water can be somewhat limiting. Matt's course was was excellent and his ability to put me at ease in the water was amazing. His knowledge and teaching ability have really gave me a new confidence in the water and I'm now actually enjoying my time so much more when I'm diving. I'd highly recommend Matt as an instructor as his professionalism and friendly approach made the whole thing so enjoyable. 11/10. Epic!

Matt was very professional, with alot of experience himself and knew all the correct safety procedures. I really enjoyed his course, I felt completely safe and it was such good fun as well! I came back feeling very inspired and look forward to buying my own equipment with the new knowledge i now have. If you want to learn spearfishing and free diving I would highly recommend him .

What a weekend!Matt was a fantastic teacher and makes you feel like you’re in safe hands. Super patient and gives a great all round intro into free-diving and spearfishing basics. Definitely left with the bug for more dives!
