Some nice staff but the mental health system needs to change - the world over. Patients are all heavily sedated (Amber Ward) and over medicated; in my opinion, with no opportunity for therapy to actually resolve their issues. Having spent 15 years unwell with my mental health and having been prescribed more medication than my body could function with - I'm very familiar with the mental health system and I only managed to recover after I was given group therapy and was able to talk about my condition - this is something the residents of this ward are never given the opportunity to do.I've found that staff don't engage with patients enough and when they do, they have a tendency to patronise rather than treating them as though they're humans with a history and a life outside of the hospital. Need more activities to encourage engagement and to help the days pass until their able to go home again.I'm currently pursuing a complaint through PALS regarding the psychiatrist in charge of this ward who has taken his own personal views to write a factual report for my loved one. There's no sign that the Psychiatrist is interested in the patients in their care and they have been witnessed avoiding the residents when leaving the ward many times - rather than engaging in light conversation or small talk as they pass the patients. This is my main issue with Langley Green Hospital. THIS MIGHT JUST BE PERSONAL EXPERIENCE THOUGH AND NOT INDICATIVE OF THEIR NORMAL BEHAVIOUR TO PATIENTS - just be warned and attend ward reviews with your loved one whenever possible. Some staff seem reluctant to even get up to unlock the visitor toilets when I've asked for assistance - I'm assuming that they're not being paid to sit around but maybe I'm missing something!

Not even worth one star awful place no help for the people who need it. Staff always on their phone and do not care about the vulnerable people they are meant to be caring for. My daughter has been in this hospital a few times and once they made her go back to her room where he had a seizure and they never her took her to A/E till 3 days letter even though she had put her tooth through her lip . The doctor at hospital said if they had brought her after it had happened they could of stitched it up instead of leaving her with a disfigured lip. The place need’s closing down

So Langley green hospital is horrible one of my friends on coral ward the other day had committed suicide and I’m very angry with coral ward staff because they knew how bad he was with his sh, when I heard the news I broke down in tears. He was only 24 yrs old and he went to Langley green to get help but he didn’t get it.In my own words Langley green is the worst hospital I have been to.U hear alarms all the timeU can’t sleep properlyThe psychiatrist always diagnoses ppl with EUPD and if u tell them u want to unalive they will say why haven’t u done it yet. Like Wtaf!! That’s just wrong. They haven’t got training in autismWhen I was there the psychiatrist said to me all the time oh were worried about ur weight and then I was shouting and took myself out of the room.CQC needs to shut down Langley green especially what has happened on coral ward a few days ago.

Possibly the worst psychiatric hospital and ward (Coral Ward) I have had the misfortune of being admitted into. It's shockingly and worryingly low ratings (for those unlucky enough to be sent there) come as no surprise to me. Most of the front line staff are good, but not one single patient I spoke to who were admitted during my stay, when talking particularly of Dr Spavin (consultant psychiatrist) had a good word to say about her.Not one.And there are two nurses that would be better suited to working in prisons rather than mental health where empathy is usually helpful... Agnes, who has no empathy and does as little as possible and has an attitude on her on top of that, and Kwame who goodness only knows how he made it to being a nurse in charge, again no empathy, bad attitude and the ward is usually in chaos when he is 'in charge', and I haven't seen him do an ounce of work for the entire duration of my admission or found one patient who likes either of them. The rest of the nursing and front line staff are awesome and just carry these incompetent ones along, I feel for the ones that are good at their jobs, i hope they find a better ward to work on, or company to work for like the Priory.I would love to see the readmittance and suicide ststitisitcs from patients who have been in this ward.Dr Spavin is also utterly incompetent and unempathetic. On telling my situation to a great friend of mine and highly regarded psychiatrist (a previous head of many teams for the Priory), he was gobsmacked at some of the facts I told him about the poor and often reckless judgements and decisions she makes, not just her ill judged and frankly negligent decisions regarding my illness, also every single patient I have spoken to during my admittance thought she was and still is a terrible psychiatrist. Most also complained she doesn't listen, I would go further than that on consulting other more highly qualified consultant psychiatrists, that she is a liability to people's lives and quality of life.I hope and pray those needing proper professional care and help to get well, are not admitted to this hospital. I have seen most people get worse in here, and it made me worse too.The only good thing I have to say about it is that most of the front line and other staff are amazing, however they can only do so much under the lead of an incompetent consultant psychiatrist who makes the final decisions. This is why the mental health system is in freefall, costing lives ultimately... because of places like this. Opal ward...1% of treatment 99 % hanging about.Stayed here from 14 October for 35 days 820 hours undergoing 9 hours treatment/ 6 hours Psychiatrist 3 hours Pyschologist...some staff are lovely including my Doctor. But the limited treatment plan is very sparse, as literally one would wait 7 days doing nothing just to see one's Psychiatrist again. Yes crosswords, puzzles mini gym tv are all on hand but where's the one thing that we should be receiving? THERAPY....The Therapy room was never ever used whilst I was there (probably due to all the clutter in it)The ADS (Acute Day Service) sessions (therapy) which are carried out when one's discharged from residency are more than I got when i was in this Hospital crying out to aleaviate the interminable boredom therein....all very disconcerting. Is this just LGH shortcomings or the state of our NHS who knows ? but when one truly relies upon a qualified and compassionate service in one's troubled mental state wouldn't it be nice to find one...one would hope.

Nice nurses but some patients that pose a risk to others are on wards with low risk patients. vaping allowed on wards and people who don't want to be exposed to the health risk just have to put up with it. Outside front entrance are signs no Smoking and smoking is prohibited anywhere on this site. Load of rubbish as smoking is everywhere and the ground is covered with cigarette butts. The stench is profound. Under staffed , maintenance issues everywhere, under funded.

This is actually a place where your supposed to get better with your mental health? right ok. There are no resources to access as a patient no real treatment programs nothing that helps you get motivated, some staff are extremely nice and a consultant on Opel ward was rude who would swear when talking to you then be nice afterwards very strange, the ward manager called Sharon was very rude and patronising and just treats people badly she should be sacked if she hasn’t already been, places like this need to be reorganised and yes it can be very political with government funding etc but it’s also up to NHS to sort their mess out

My daughter was admitted in a distressed and paranoid state to Coral Ward. She was treated with kindly concern by all the staff who came into contact with her, and after 5 weeks she has been discharged, in a far better state of mind. Her en suite room was warm and comfortable_ like a budget hotel_and as she improved, she was able to avail herself of various activities provided by the hospital. I'd like to thank the staff most profoudly for all their diligent care.

I was on medication that made me feel like I had poison in my body. Did not help with the voices that were telling me to kill myself. I explained I was going to commit suicide unless I was taken off the medication. And I explained it made me feel like I had poison in my body. Doctor just said no I’m not charging your medication. Most patients were allowed to go to the shop after 2 weeks I had to wait 3 months. Also I had to wait 3 months until I was allowed to go to the sports hall to play football. I think the staff and patients and doctor should all go to prison. I hope they all burn in hell they also put me on medication that made me put on nearly 7 stone in weight and they did not warn me that I may put on weight.
