Decent restaurant in an old Truman's pub on Nunhead Lane not far from Peckham Rye. It sells itself as offering South African dishes mostly cooked over open fire. But on the basis of our visit this has disadvantages in that our two main courses (poussin and monkfish) were both overcooked. Of the starters, the peri peri prawn dish was pretty good but the beef tartare was completely dominated by harissa. Coupled with very loud music this was not a great experience despite the friendly and helpful staff. We'll stick to Kudu's signature restaurant on Queens Road Peckham - which is extremely good - in future.

This restaurant is one of the best that I've had pleasure of dining at. We tasted all but two of the dishes on the menu. We ordered a variety of starters, mains and desert to share. We also ordered all the side dishes. We were a party of five and voted" which was the best in each course. They were all so good we simply could not reach consensus. I speak for all five of us: most of us have eaten on all the continents and this restaurant should be in the top ten in the world. It is close to London central and the competition is fierce. Kudu is the not a "should try" it is a "bucket-list must". Service

I stumbled upon this restaurant with zero expectations, thanks to a birthday dinner surprise for a friend. From the outside, it looks like your typical pub, but once you step in, brace yourself for a pleasant surprise – a cosy yet chic atmosphere that's ready to embrace you.The menu's all about sharing, and since we were a small group, we went all out and practically tried their entire menu. Most of the dishes were a hit, with a couple being just great. But on the whole, it turned out to be a fantastic experience.

Had a great meal. Particularly happy with the prawn starter. Staff also happy to give a leftover steak bone for my dog. And he was happy to be there and be allowed to sit on the seats. They provided a water bowl and a few small bone shaped treats. The potato side come with a fantastically crisp skin.

We had a really nice Sunday lunch to celebrate my friends birthday. And one of the best restaurants I've been in a long time. And nice to not go up into town to have a top meal.We were a group of 6 and had selection of snacks, starters, mains and desserts and it was all top notch. All the flavours were great and very little to fault. Our only criticism was the roast beef pieces were small and thin, so wouldn't say its your typical Sunday roast.SnacksGrilled potatoe flat bread: 5/5Olives: 4/5Patron peppers & labneh: 5/5Spiced biltong: 4/5StartersGrilled prawns in peri peri sauce: 5/5Mains:Roast beef with vegetables: 4/5Dessert:Choux bun with jasmine ice cream: 5/5Service was immaculate from the moment we got in. Staff were always on hand, very attentive, polite, friendly and catered for the varying diet needs of our table. Despite the ridiculous warm weather and kitchen heat they remained very professional and calm. The venue is an old pub turned into a restaurant and fairly cosy inside, which we enjoyed as it had a warm and classic feel. And the decor and lighting suited the environment. There's street parking in the side road which was handy.Would definitely like to go back as well as try out the other Kudu restaurants if this was anything to go by. Big thank you to the team for hosting us.

Just one of the best restaurants that I have been lately. The food is just spot on. It doesn’t just look pretty, it also tastes amazing. As a fine dining lover, I don’t look just for the atmosphere, because I can’t ignore the fact that is a restaurant and not just a bar. One of the best surprises that I had. Left the place very happy and saying “this is my type of restaurant, is covers all fronts”

Amazing food, service and ambiance. They let me know before my reservation that I could come earlier if I wanted to which was super helpful. Also, I have a gluten intolerance and the waitress went through the menu with me and let me know what I could have, and what they could substitute. Moreover, the food was incredible! One of the best meals I’ve had in a while. Thank you to the staff and chefs for making this such an enjoyable experience.

So good. Pork was the best pork either of us had ever had, dessert was amazing. Good service. Would recommend for a special occasion - in the top 3 restaurants we’ve been to in London.

Old pub turned seminal introduction to - if you've never been to the country - South African cuisine. Does a sharing steak that's good enough by the meat alone, but is differentiated from many equivalents by its sauce. Many of the other dishes were also initially familiar, but made memorable by some unexpected lift in the cooking. Let down by the up-selling to four courses by the staff - you don't need the snacks.

Have been here for many times. It’s one of my favorite restaurants in London.I finally tried the Sunday roast. It was super delicious, however I felt the portion of the beef could be more generous as it costed £28 for a plate.
