Greenfield Reservoir

Beautiful spot and always so so much quieter than the main Dovestone reservoir. At the top of Greenfield reservoir there’s a gorgeous waterfall. You can scramble up it (if you’re feeling energetic) to take you up onto the tops for views.

Walks in Saddleworth whisk you into the heady beauty of the north west reaches of the Peak District National Park. Throughout the year you can trek along trails through the region’s sweeping valleys for strolls around the linked Dove Stone, Yeoman Hey and Greenfield Reservoirs. Continue the theme over Rakes Moss and descend to explore along wonderful Longdendale with its own sprawling reservoirs.Hikes from Saddleworth’s towns and villages can lead you directly up, onto Saddleworth Moor via bridleways and footpaths until it feels as though the entire national park is laid out before you. For truly spectacular views, head up to Dove Stone Rocks, a strenuous hike to this magnificent gritstone outcrop with astounding views.

Amazing walk, tough scramble up the waterfall but well worth the effort when you get to the trinnacle.

One of my favourite places to walk.. Great if you take a picnic and can spend the full day there.
