Sadly a shadow of its former self. Traders packing up really early. Such a shame. This used to be packed with stalls of every kind and hundreds of customers -really popular and bustling with people. Not helped by lack of free or cheap parking, yellow lines everywhere and supermarkets selling everything. People need to support these market traders or they will be gone forever

For what l wanted it was excellent. There is a general market on fixed days, but you need to look on the council website for other markets which are more specialised and quite varied

The market and town center looks lovely, but the market staff themselves for the most part seem extremely rude almost verging on bullies, multiple times I have seen them abusing drivers that are still entitled to drive through the pedestrianized area before 10am, they are aggressive and only show care for themselves and other market stalls

Every day there is a different style of market. Whether it is the busy Saturday market, arts and crafts, or the continental food market I visited today. The retail environment is difficult for many towns, and Newcastle-under-Lyme is no different. However, there seems to be momentum to make the most of the facilities. Its a historical market in the centre of town. Local favourites are the jacket potato man, the flower man and the veg stall. Set in the centre of town, its always worth a walk through on the way to Bygones tea rooms or Poundland. Saturdays there used to be a guy flogging meat from a van from Wolverhampton with a loud speaker. Thankfully, he doesn't seem to be around any more and you can enjoy your browsing in peace.

It was a great historic/period place but need to be maintained more and upgraded. Some shops were emptied and closed.
