Simply French Yorkshire

My husband and I spent a very enjoyable afternoon trying to brush up on our very rusty French speaking whilst making the most delicious lemon tart.Ann made the whole experience a lot of fun and very educational.I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a unique gift or just a different and enjoyable experience.

I have been going to Ann's lessons for a year now. She makes them fun and very informative. The small group is friendly and relaxed. Ann has a knack of making you work hard without even realising it! Lots of different tasks of speaking, reading, listening and short videos, some writing and no formal grammar lessons! Ann corrects gently and informatively so you never feel daft and are encouraged to have a go, even if it is completely incorrect. Because of this I know that my confidence to speak French when in France has really improved. On more than one occasion this has been complimented and this never happened before going to Ann. I would recommend Simply French to anyone, whatever your current ability you will improve.

The morning cooking session I spent with Ann was lovely. We had great conversations together in French and I learned a lot about cooking. The setting is very welcoming and Ann is a wonderful host thoroughly invested in her teaching which makes for a very qualitative and enjoyable experience. I recommend it for anyone willing to learn about French and cooking.

Wow - what an amazing morning I spent with Ann on-line speaking French and baking! Ann was so patient with me - my mind often went blank and I needed to be reminded about basic grammar rules and pronunciation but Ann was such a fantastic teacher and gave me lots of encouragement. I didn’t expect to learn as much French as I did when making a delicious tarte au citron avec coulis de framboises - Ann provided excellent resources to accompany the lesson with relevant vocab and extra information. Would definitely recommend.

Like many people who have a wish to to learn French language, I was unsure where to find a suitable course until I contacted Ann at Simply French Yorkshire and joined one of her groups.She has so much experience and teaching ability with an enthusiastic style, it makes learning enjoyable and rewarding, in a relaxed freindly setting.Ann guides and encourages as she presents the well prepared course material with the use of teaching aids.I found the notes, together with an audio to practice pronunciation received following each lesson, a real benefit as homework.I can truly recommend learning with Ann to anyone, of all age groups, who might be a complete beginner or someone who is interested in improving their French language.

I had 10 one-to-one online lessons with Ann starting late February 2023 and we had our 10th lesson yesterday. My learning need was to gain confidence in speaking French as well as using and improving on what I've already learned (- it's really different speaking out loud and being in a conversation with someone compared to just talking to yourself in French!). I immensely enjoyed all my lessons with Ann. We agreed at the start that we won't use books, but instead she will teach and correct me as we go along. She has structured our lessons really well, and it just felt like catching up with a good friend. For example, she asked me to send her photos, and we used them as talking points. The recordings, lesson notes and weekly homework also helped. I really felt my confidence grow after each lesson, and I am thankful I found Ann's website and booked French conversation lessons with her. I cannot yet speak French without stumbling on a few grammar rules, vocabulary and pronunciation, but I'm definitely much better at speaking French than I was when I started. Thank you very much, Ann! I will miss our lessons and conversations!

My mother and I really enjoyed our morning with Ann who gave us a warm welcome, and was an excellent and patient teacher. We had a lot of fun making Tartellette aux Fraise (which were delicious!) and highly recommend her as both a teacher and baker - merci beaucoup Ann!

Ann provides really engaging French lessons that are very enjoyable. She is an excellent tutor and mentor providing a fun learning environment with interesting and informative structured lessons that build knowledge from week to week. Students are encouraged to participate in lessons and French conversation without judgement but with clear and precise instruction. The lessons are followed up with vocabulary and grammar notes together with audio files to help with pronunciation. Lessons are presently being delivered on line very successfully.Excellent value for money and fun, it doesn't feel like a chore to learn. I would highly recommend Simply French Yorkshire.

Ann's lessons are a delight to attend. She has a talent for engaging us all with her passion for all things French. She stretches and corrects us, with a unique ability to make us feel comfortable and bold enough to try, without any of the usual fear of being 'laughed at' or 'feeling stupid' when we get it wrong - which we often do! After a hard day at work, I find much fun, learning and delight in the Simply French experience.
