Argyll Backpackers

Stayed here whilst cycling around the area with friends. The rooms were clean, warm and had everything necessary. Little attention to detail made all the difference. Nice hot showers and comfortable beds. The owners were very friendly and happy to help us out with directions and food options etc. It is positioned both with gorgeous outlooks and on a main road so easy access for public transport etc. I would definitely stay here again.

Everything you need in a hostel (although note, this is not a hotel) and ideal for our needs.Found the place to be clean, well-considered and friendly. Good basic breakfast, a restful night’s sleep, a cosy common room (with a beautiful view of the loch), riverside fire pit, and even a PlayStation.However, what really makes this place is Pam – a fantastic host who really cares about her guests and is on hand to impart both the workings of the hostel and her knowledge of the area. We were a large group of sea kayakers and she helped us find a local takeaway to get some food after a long day on the water and, was really helpful, chatty and accommodating.If in the area again, will be back.

Really enjoyed our stay here, it had everything we needed and more (plus was super clean!). The hosts were really welcoming and went out of their way to offer tips and local recommendations. We stayed on route whilst cycling the Caledonia Way - it was ideal for this and even had good bike parking too. Would happily stay again!

Second time touring here with the bicycle. Owners make you very welcome and cannot do enough, bunkhouse is very clean and facilities good. Great place to stay on a tour, or a base of cycling great roads. Definitely recommend this bunkhouse to anyone. Would also be a nice stop for family on a trip around Argyll.

We had a nearby car rental breakdown and no where to stay. The lovely Pam at Argyll backpackers found us some beds and saved us! She was so kind and helpful with advice on our car breakdown and the area itself.The bunks were comfy and the common area and kitchen very clean and well equipped. Plus, the prettiest lake view from a hostel I’ve ever seen. Thank you again Pam!!

Amazing hostel and amazing host! Pam was very friendly with us and the rooms were confortable and clean. Bike-friendly hostel with everything you need to reload your battery and have a good time. Pam was happy to share some wood for the bbq and we had a wonderful night.

Pam was absolutely wonderful. We loved our stay here. Pam has so much knowledge and experience. She knows her history of Scotland and we had great conversations with her.

We stayed a night in one of the hostel's private rooms while traveling to the islands. I wish we could have stayed longer. Pam is awesome and the lounge is a nice cozy place to talk with people. I would definitely recommend it and would 100% stay here again.
