Cousin reunion, 16 stayed at the hotel 22 for a meal one evening. Staff looked after us very well. The original part of the hotel is the oldest in England, looks very interesting. The hotel is so central to Norwich it made getting about sightseeing and shopping so easy.

Superb location, very average room but excellent breakfast. My wife and I stayed here for one night to enable us to go to a staff social in town. The hotel is very central but that does have an impact on parking availability. Parking costs £8 for the night. The room was a double but was really quite small. Nice bathroom facilities with bath and shower. The room was quite quiet on the 3rd floor even though it overlooked the road. Including parking, I paid around £145 for the night which I thought was slightly expensive. Probably paying for the name slightly. With that said the included breakfast was an excellent buffet with a real variety of offerings. Check in and out were smooth.

Went for Murder Mystery Evening. Great fun and fabulous time. Although food was good it wasn't up to the standard reached in their restaurant. Plus no wine list and very small bar. Would have been better maybe if we could have pre-booked our wine? Saying this we had fantastic evening full of laughs

My daughter and I went for afternoon tea and arrived just over 10minutes before our booking time of 2pm. Despite my daughter physically going in twice they messed up our booking and had been put in for 3.45... not something that can be misheard. My daughter also went in the day before and spoke to someone requesting to be put in the lounge and gave the time of the booking no note was put on the booking even though the member of staff said that there was. It was nearly 30 mins before we got a drink, at 3.20pm we finally got our tea. There were two other tables and they also waited similar times I assume they hadn't had their time of booking messed up so it really displayed poor service. We never got offered any further drinks there was no one around to ask and we seemed to be an inconvenience. I complained as I paid after a poor attempt from the staff at an apology and it appeared to fall on deaf ears. I know the other two tables were not impressed either and one actually got up to complain but was talked out of it. Perhaps reading this they may take note? Needless to say I didn't tip... 5 stars for the food though.

The Maids Head Hotel
Amazingly lovely, service oriented and friendly staff (no exceptions for desk employees, restaurant staff and cleaning ladies). Wonderful hotel with lots of choices of different kind of rooms with designs. Very clean rooms and bathrooms. Great corridors with lots of (quirky) little stairs all over the hotel. Lots of cozy corners with tables and seats. Excellent restaurant for breakfast, lunches, teas and diners, Big parking lot behind the hotel.

First room was only accessible via main stairs, or 2 sets of stairs and a lift. Not ideal if you have a pram (which they were aware of, as we’d asked for a travel cot). Staff offered to carry pram up, but that’s not ideal if baby is sleeping inside the pram. Our first room also overlooked a courtyard which was hosting an evening wedding reception - again not ideal if you have a newborn - and had lots of noise from the lobby (this was a suite). The hotel did move us when we requested to be shifted to a more accessible room - thank you to the kind staff member who made this happen. Second room had visible damp (see photos showing water marks through out the room, and the exterior wall to the room showing water build up) throughout and smelt of damp. Air conditioning units were audible through the night. Parking lot was full.Staff were kind and tried to help, but felt under resourced. Hotel needs some money spent on it - this is a problem for the owners not the staff. We paid £215 a night, not including breakfast, which felt expensive. Only real saving grace was the location, which is very central.Having read other bad reviews on here, I fear the hotel’s response will be negative / suggest it was somehow our fault. I considered removing this review as a result as I want an easy life, but in order to aid other travellers it probably should remain.

Wonderful stay a couple of weeks ago for a family occasion. Our suite was top notch with a beautiful bath in our room and a cute dressing room with a washbasin and mirror. Beds superbly comfortable and a power shower too. Everyone was very welcoming and of course you cannot beat the location. We shall return.

A mixed experience overall. I decided to visit Norwich because I'd read about the history of the hotel online, so thought it would make for an interesting trip. I absolutely loved the city so I do have the hotel to thank for inspiring my visit!Having said that, I feel that the hotel needs some work. I understand the difficulty with it being an old building, but it really feels like the rooms could do with a good refresh. Ultimately you pay a good amount of money and compared with other places, you're not getting quite the same standard. The staff were friendly when I checked in and out, so I've absolutely no complaints there. I don't dislike anything about the hotel as such, it's purely that I feel I could get better value for money elsewhere. It really is in a great location though which must be a selling point.

Stayed here for 1 night on business trip. Such a lovely place. Very kind and helpful receptionists. Quite a puzzle to find the lift if it's your first time but the room/dining area/breakfast area are wonderful. I would recommend everyone to enter from the parking side rather than main entrance to see some luxury which gives a good vibrant when entering the hotel. Overall highly recommended.

I stayed here for one night a couple of weeks back for a birthday occasion, which was a great night! A fantastic hotel, with extremely warm and welcoming staff. A lovely fry up too. Would recommend to family and friends!
