Mr Mohamed Mabrouk

I have stage 4 / deep-infiltrating endometriosis and adenomyosis, in some medical circles this is called “frozen pelvis”. Mr Mabrouk and his team refuse to treat me on the grounds of weight. Despite the fact I am in a wheelchair due to this disease, and can only manage a meal a day at most because of various symptoms, he and the MDT team at Addenbrookes refuse to do excision surgery on me until I lose weight, which is a physically impossible request of me. I have not had experiences like others, he has never once validated my pain but instead minimised it - despite MRI evidence indicating how progressed the disease is. To leave a person in so much pain that they can’t walk, can’t get out of bed, have to drop out of studies and can’t work, and whose body slowly feels like it is failing is a deliberately cruel decision, and I urge endometriosis patients - especially those of us who are larger - to avoid him and the Addenbrookes endometriosis clinic like the plague.

Mr Mabrouk has been really informative, patient and friendly with me, discussing all options in a way that I understood. I tried with so many Gynaecologists in my own city to no avail due to not wanting to go any further with me. I found Mr Mabrouk and he was brilliant, diagnosing me quickly and confidently. Whether it was a face to face appointment or a zoom call, it was the same friendly and informative consultation. I HIGHLY recommend. I am 1 week pre op and feel relieved and happy. Thank you so much!
