I attended the Brush Lettering Workshop (full day). As I made my way through the day my efforts went from from a shaky beginning to better than passable pieces to take home. Maisie is an excellent tutor, always ready with advice and ideas as the day progressed. With the great materials and excellent refreshments provided it is a case of simply turn up and you're good to go!

I previously had been on a workshop in Chichester which is a little bit too far for me to travel regularly so I was delighted when I saw that the workshops were being hosted online. I booked a beginner brush pen workshop and was very excited when my pack arrived with great presentation and all the things I needed. It was a real treat and the workshop was really enjoyable and I learnt a lot. Mima was a great presenter, very clear and with a great sense of humour. And it has given me the inspiration to continue my practice at home. Perfect way to practice Calligraphy and Mindfulness. Thank you, Angela

Pointed Nib Workshop... Such a joyful morning! As a complete beginner with truly TERRIBLE handwriting, I honestly can't believe how much progress I made in just a few hours. Really fun and super engaging teaching from our pro today - Maisie :) A new hobby for sure!

I couldn't recommend highly enough! I have taken a 5 week Beyond Beginner course, as well as a 2 hour workshop, both of which were taught by Maisie, who is brilliant. I learned so much during the courses, and Maisie was on hand for personal feedback during the Zoom sessions, as well as in the group WhatsApp that was created. The atmosphere in the sessions was very relaxed, and I will definitely consider more workshops in future. Thank you :)

I did a Beginners Pointed Nib workshop in Brighton and it was such a lovely, fun and therapeutic way to spend a morning. The teacher was kind, patient and full of great knowledge, and we were able to get stuck in with calligraphy almost straight away. It was just the right amount of challenging and it was really useful to have the teacher there to watch your technique and give simple pointers on how to improve. The teacher was also helpful when it came to giving advice on what equipment to buy so we could continue practicing and 24hrs after the workshop we got emailed a discount code to buy what we needed on the website. It's given me lots of confidence to get practicing.

I attended the Brush Calligraphy workshop and couldn't recommend it enough! Kirsten and Maisie were really inspiring and I found the workshop both informative and relaxing. The surroundings were really comfortable and structure to the day was great; building up our confidence with lots of tutorials and plenty of time to practice, nothing felt rushed. The workshop only had about 12 attendees and the lunch was really lovely too. It all felt very personal. I will be back! :)

I really enjoyed the brush lettering workshop I attended on 24th September. The content of the course was excellent and previous experience wasn't assumed.The pace of the course was very well judged and Maisie was not only patient but very encouraging too.The lunch was very good as well.We were invited to have a look at where everyone worked and got to meet Kirsten Burke as well, which was very nice.A small detail, but an important one for someone who is left handed, the pens that I was going to use were placed on the left handside of my work space. Nice touch.I would definitely book another course at the Modern Calligraphy Company.A sign of how much I enjoyed the day is that I have practiced everyday since attending.Thank you.Elayne

Such an uplifting, positive creative morning at Kirsten Burke's brush calligraphy workshop.Beautiful surroundings and a workshop filled with the most inspiring work, this was a welcome break from a busy life.We received a very warm and personal welcome from the team and there is a family feel to the place. Our tutor Maisie was incredible, in her calligraphy work, teaching of skills and her calm encouragement.I would highly recommend the Kirsten Burke workshops and will definitely be returning.Thank you to all the team, your passion shines through in all that you do.

Attended one of Kirsten’s Dip Pen Calligraphy Workshops. As a complete beginner I found the course interesting, quite demanding and great fun. The worksheets were well designed and progressive and challenging and the amount achieved in one day surprised me! Kiri and her colleagues were very welcoming and the studio was well set up and a relaxing place to work. The lunch and the sunshine outside were excellent. A fantastic day and excellent value. My wife and I will probably return to learn more from this talented artist.
