Thatcham Garden Centre

Came for the Sunday carvery , firstly there’s a massive Que to get your carvery ticket as it’s the same Que where people are ordering coffees and only one person taking orders , when I eventually got served I went to the carvery where there was one man on his own doing absolutely everything , poor guy looked completely stressed out and had lost it , no peas no mash , no runner beans , the stuffing balls were absolutely solid and food was cold . They clearly have a staffing issue here and you aren’t getting what your paying for unfortunately because there isn’t enough staff to run the place efficiently

Such a lovely garden centre with a huge array of stunning plants and ornaments. Very friendly staff too. Restaurant is gorgeous with excellent food. Some pretty good bargains to be had in the garden centre too.

As a Garden Centre should be. Good choice of products that are well displayed and has a very good restaurant.

We move to this area soon so check-in out places. We have used the restaurant and will definitely come back good food selection very nice food And will definitely return. Thank you friendly staff.

Very busy, friendly, food service quick once ordered, clean comfortable environment, lots of choice. Child friendly, dog friendly. Great place for an easy lunch

Visited on Sunday afternoon for a play session and was pretty shocked at the poor management.The tables were filthy & piled high with trays from the previous sessions and it was absolutely heaving. As you have to pay at the cafe, many people had not paid & were openly disgusting it - no signs anywhere saying where to pay either. Previous groups (different coloured tags) were also still playing. Eventually staff realised it was dangerously overcrowded and started to check some wristbands with limited authority - they missed out checking loads of people. Some parents were also openly ignoring the staff by leaving their kids in soft play and just moving themselves to the tables immediately outside in the cafe to avoid being kicked out. Staff were also serving food to parents physically sat on the edge of the softplay (until other staff members had to tell them not to). The whole situation was so bad that it became comical.The system needs serious improvement to keep this a safe and enjoyable experience. It needs a staff member on the door to manage numbers/take payment & tidy up, especially during changeover times. It’s a tiny place, it cannot handle 30+ children plus countless adults

Visited the restaurant for the first time yesterday for the Sunday Carvery. Overall, very disappointing. We wanted a cold drink to go with our meal but all the drinks in the chiller cabinet were lukewarm and the restaurant had no ice available. The trays at the carvery were quite dirty and had not been cleaned for a while. Although the meats at the carvery were good and well cooked the vegetables were very unappetising and clearly had been cooked some time earlier and just kept warm. The self serve facilities for the vegetables were also very awkward to use so there was a lot of spillage around the containers. The atmosphere was very warm and humid but there were no fans or air conditioning and all the windows were shut. Not good on a warm day. Although the food was reasonably priced, charging £3:30 for a small bottle of lukewarm lemonade was a total ripoff. It is a great shame We will not be returning until things improve.
