Halcyan Water Conditioners

I don't often write gushing reviews but here goes... I was skeptical about this device and put off buying it for over a year. Now I couldn't recommend it enough. Surprised at how quickly it got to work and the immediate difference in the water quality. Water tastes nicer; dishes look cleaner; hair feels better; laundry feels softer when it comes out of the machine. Cleaning is no longer a chore. I am so glad we chose Halcyan over the chemical salt softener: it's the perfect solution. We live in a very hard water area. If it can work in our old house, I'm sure it would work anywhere!

Worth every penny!I've had my halcyan water conditioner for just over a year now. I have no regrets at all.I have to clean the shower, taps, sinks etc. 80% less than I used to, the difference is more than I expected.I took a long time doing research on this one vs. salt machines and other methods but we decided on the halcyan because we wanted to:- save space- save money and trouble on buying salt etc.- save the environment- clean lessI would highly recommend it to anyone living in a hard water area. I think my hair is softer too now :)The installation was easy too

I’ve lived in hard water areas (London and South Somerset) most of my adult life. So imagine my joy to discover a small device that might free me from the drudgery of hours of elbow grease, and the expense of gallons of limescale remover. Within a week of our Halcyan being fitted, there are no more threatened encrustations in any part of the bathrooms or kitchen. I imagine residual ones in inaccessible places will also gradually dissolve, and our plants will be eternally grateful.

Lovely small little product with a huge impact. We can feel the water difference since February 2023 installation. Easy to install without any bulky attachment around it.

Does what it says on the tin. I live in a hard water area and I noticed a difference immediately the unit was installed by one of the approved plumbers, which is around 6 weeks now. Skin and hair feel softer and less dry. The on/off knob on my shower had calcium deposits making it hard to turn and I am noticing that it glides more easily now. Shower glass is easy to clean. Kettle is clear of deposits. I frequently had to use vinegar in the loo to descale and haven't had to do this since it was installed. I am really pleased and glad I took the decision to install it.

Living in a hard water area and not on mains drainage I looked hard and long at different water conditioners. I wisely choose the Halcyan water conditioner which I have now had for nearly 3 years. I can safely say this was a great investment as we have not suffered with any lime scale build up at all. The big bonus with the Halcyan is once it is fitted you just leave it alone. It conditions all the water in the whole house and you have no need of a hard tap for drinking or watering the garden because of the way it works. The second bonus is there are no ongoing costs for salt, no moving parts that need maintenance or excess use of water as it does need a cleaning cycle. So all round works out cheaper than salt based water softeners. 1st class product that will not let you down.

Living in Oxon with super hard water, I am still thrilled every day that I can merely wipe the water marks rather than scrub until my elbows and hands ache plus I will not have to buy limescale remover ever again. It truly is awesome and there are NO ONGOING COSTS unlike most other water conditioners - what you pay for the unit is all there is to pay (that and getting it installed). The customer service has been amazing. The team are very knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommend to everyone. Plus they gave me a discount as I am a Blue Light Card holder.

I will start this review by saying we live in one of the hardest water areas in the UK. That horrible red area on the Halcyan limescale map.We ordered a unit after looking at Halcyan on our way out of a recent homebuilding show. I was smitten with the simplicity and low lifetime cost of the unit immediately. I will admit I was sceptical despite understanding the science but figured it was worth a risk because if it solved the hard water issues or even helped relieve them a little bit then it would be a huge pay off.Firstly - install was relatively easy. They give instructions on placement after your internal feed isolator and anyone who is mildly handy around the house could install this. Husband is a handyman so was a simple job for him. That said - if you aren’t sure call in a professional asthe cost if you mess up will be a lot more than an hourly rate to install.Secondly - You don’t have to split your water feed for drinking and other - huge bonus! As it doesn’t remove the limescale it is safe to drink and you still get calcium benefit.Thirdly - no huge unit to house just an in-line pipe - perfect for all sized properties.Thirdly - no need to buy and top up salt regularly. Install, sit back and reap the reward!A few months later and we are already seeing huge benefits. The biggest for me is a huge reduction in the dry skin and hair for myself and my girls for which we usually suffer terribly. We are using a lot less shower gel, shampoo, conditioner etc to achieve better results. My teenage daughter has very dry hair which after washing is like straw and takes an age to dry. Since Halcyan it takes her significantly less time to dry and her hair is silky and soft for the first time since being small. The benefits are also improving over time and each use.From a limescale build up perspective I’ve noticed I can achieve the same cleaning results with a lot less limescale remover and a lot less effort. The existing scale is starting to come off and reduce as a result. Build up between cleans is not increasing for the first time ever and we are not getting a lot of the limescale tide lines. About a month into use we had the exciting moment when we were able to confirm that the limescale has indeed converted to a powder substance that dry wipes off. We have never had this before Halcyan!We have also noticed an improvement in water taste - I will now drink tap water willingly where as before I struggled without masking the taste with a squash. I have noticed though that the water smells different particularly when warm. This doesn’t bother me and I’m the only one who has noticed so may just be a weird sensitive smell issue that I have but thought I’d mention it in case anyone thought this abnormal - it’s not.All in all - this should present huge value for money over its lifetime. We are also not adding chemicals to our water or having to separate drinking and general use water. We don’t have expensive outlays each month for salt and we don’t have to do anything for maintenance. Purchase and install cost less than the purchase of a traditional water softener so we are already saving money. Can’t recommend this enough.

This is quite a long review, but I wanted to be thorough because when I was researching into this topic myself back in 2019, it was difficult to find enough information to help me make the best decision I could. So I hope this review helps.Having previously lived in an area with soft water, we moved into an area where the water is classified as 'very hard' in January 2019.For the first month, I thought we would see how we get on. Limescale built up quickly and I let it as I didn’t realize how difficult it would be to remove (since I had never experienced it before).I started researching different solutions and was agonizing over whether to have a traditional salt-based water softener installed. They seemed to be the only ones that actually remove the problem-causing minerals in the water, but the cons of taking up significant cupboard space and being locked in forever to having to buy large bags of salt kept me searching.When I came across Halcyan, it ticked all the boxes: doesn’t take up extra space (cut out a section of existing pipe and install in its place); no further maintenance required; no need to buy more products to keep it working; supposed to work for a few decades.It seemed too good to be true, so I spent days researching into the science of how it’s supposed to work. After reading as much as I could find at that time, as well as reviews and threads on message boards, I still wasn’t sure (the science made sense to me but there were so many conflicting reviews). We decided to take the risk as we didn’t have the space for massive bags of salt under our counter.Yes, we baulked initially at the price of the Halcyan; and yes, we also baulked at the price we had to pay the plumber to install it at the end of February 2019 (it was a difficult installation due to the location of the incoming water pipe). However, the end result was well worth it.Within about 4 days of installation, we noticed more lather during showers. And after I had finally cleaned off all the old limescale from before I had the Halcyan installed, I found that new films of minerals could be simply wiped off easily.The main difference between Halcyan and salt-based water softeners is that Halcyan doesn’t actually remove the problem-causing minerals, it just makes them not deposit down as limescale.What this has meant for me in practice in the kitchen, for example, is that I wipe down the taps each evening when I have finished washing up and it’s shiny and sparkly again. No need to scrub vigorously to remove limescale because there isn’t any to remove. This is the same for taps and sinks throughout my home. If I’m feeling lazy and I don’t wipe it down at the end of the day, no problem. I have left it for a few days to a week and it still wipes off easily. Same for shower screens.The Halcyan worked for me. I’ve had it for 1.5 years now and it’s still working for me hassle-free. I am very happy with it, no regrets, and would highly recommend it because it ticked all of these boxes that were important to me: doesn’t take up extra space; no further maintenance required; no need to buy more products to keep it working; supposed to work for a few decades (ok, so for this last one, only time will tell).However, if your top priority and expectation is that the product removes all the minerals that cause limescale from your water, I would suggest a salt-based water softener instead as they are the only ones that can do that.

We love our Halcyan Water Conditioner - so much so that we moved house with it! As long-term residents in an area of hard water, finding the right long-term solution was important to us, with a particular focus on the most environmentally-friendly solution. Our Halcyan has worked brilliantly for more than 7 years now and significantly reduces the effort of keeping on top of scale within our house. We've been so impressed that we have now added a Halcyan unit to our recently refurbished brewery business premises in the local area - it was a no brainer!
