Came to this restaurant because of its hotpot but was deeply disappointed. The soup was too salty even though we added a lot of water. The beef was unacceptable as it was completely different from the picture. The radish was bitter. The only thing delicious was the fish balls. Will not visit again.

Very disappointed with my visit on 16th October 2021. The restaurant looks fine and in the centre Oxford. Locks in lady’s toilet were broken. The food wasn’t authentic Cantonese dimsum at all. I ordered 3 dimsum but none of these taste good. I came here because the nice photos of food and excellent reviews, but these reviews and phots seems out of date .

Food was soso but quick as most of the times in Chinese restaurants.Very old interior and toilets does need a bit of improvement.Good thing is that they are open throughout the day and prices are fair.

Was here recently for its steamboat hotpot.Pros:-The fish balls, shrimp and calamari were good.-Staff were nice.Cons:-Soup was extremely salty even after adding lots of water.-The beef and pork were in stark contrast to the restaurant’s adverts. They were shredded to a point that the sight of them was revolting.-Choices were a bit too little.-Radish was bitter.Price was quite cheap (£18) but I would rather pay more for better quality. Will not visit again.

The service are friendly and food are good too. Highly recommend the egg fried rice and their soup with dash of black vinegar. The deep fried fish with lemon is oddly too sweet but the fried squid is perfect.

Safest place to eat in Oxford! I was amazed with COVID safety measures!! Ultra fast temperature check at the entrance and each table is separated by safety screen. All staff wearing masks and gloves and steam stabilized cutlery!! Amazing food as well!!

August 2018At that time I was so hungry, confused what to eat. Found a chinese food restaurant, without thinking long, entered the resto.+ big portion with autentic szechuan taste, worth to try in Oxford. Close with Said Business School, Oxford Uni.- No parking area for a car. You must park in somewhere.

It might be easy to miss Paddyfields as it looks a bit inconspicuous on the outside and is not as widely lauded as some of the other Chinese restaurants in Oxford but if you are looking for an economical yet filling meal that will leave you thinking about it for days this restaurant is a must -try!Their menu can be a bit disorienting as there are so many options but the staff are very helpful and will give you recommendations and answer any questions. If you are going as a group it’s a good idea if everyone orders what they find appealing and you then share as then everyone will get a chance to try out more menu items. We went as a group of four and ordered a shredded crispy duck, pork belly hot pot, a beef in oyster sauce sizzle, black bean beef noodles, mixed meat dumplings, glutinous rice and a spicy sour soup. There was literally not a single dish that we disliked from the ones we ordered, everything was astonishingly delicious, it was prepared super quickly and the staff served it with a lot of care and attention to detail. The price in the end was £24 per person but considering we definitely ordered more than we could eat, I’d say you can get an amazing meal here for about £20 a head.Again I would like to emphasise that the staff was really kind and quick with the service and even patiently waited for us to finish our meal even as they were starting to close the restaurant.Overall brilliant food and excellent service for a very reasonable price, 5⭐️ from me

You wouldn’t notice it from the outside but it’s a secret gem! Good atmosphere - the quiet music and decorations. Most importantly food served hot, generous portions and very delicious. My personal favourite - crispy lamb hot and spicy vermicelli soup (on the photo) Other recommendations - sizzling beef, mapo tofu, milk tea and hot pot. If you like Chinese food, spicy food or just want to try something different - visit this place
