I thought my first visit to a Timber Merchant was gonna be scary. I could not have been more wrong. Enquiring as to how to buy some hardwood for a college project, I was met by Fergus who offered me a tour of the yard. He kindly took the time to show me all the stock and answered questions and offered advice. I now have some beautiful American Black Walnut which will soon be a small side table.It's obvious why the Patersons have been in business for over 100 years. Friendly, informative and approachable. Can't wait for my next project, which I think will be in European Oak :)P.S. The walnut I needed ended up being a lot less expensive that I was expecting, so don't be put off by thinking exotic hardwoods are crazy expensive, always worth getting a quote to match your budget. No minimum quantities either. Very happy!
