Firstly, we'd just like to say how accommodating and friendly the staff are here. It's straightforward to book a table, and as we were a large booking we had a lovely side room which was perfect for our end of year gathering with the kids.Secondly, we chose this location as we had a Groupon deal and thought it was great value for the different areas we were travelling from. As with many Groupons - there was a lot that wasn't explained/clear until we got there and asked. This is bearing in mind whilst booking I mentioned on 2 different occasions we had Groupons, when we arrived we mentioned we had Groupons and we went up to the bar a fair few times to ask how it would work. (Not sure if this should go on a Google review but on the Groupon advert it said the deal was valid for the menu" - this is not true - it's a limited part of the menu that you only find out about once you are there). After getting past the workings we then went up to order

Went here December 23 for a family meal. Will never go again! Had to wait 20 minutes to be served and then met probably the rudest so called bar person named Kyle. Asked for 3 J2O`s with no ice and the 1st thing he did was half fill 3 glasses with ice. When I pointed out (again) I did not want ice he looked at me as though I was something he had just found on the bottom of his shoe. It went down hill from there. He should consider a change of job as he is definitely not suited for a customer facing role. (Maybe a roadsweeper) The manager (Faye) witnessed his behaviour and said nothing. Carvery was disgraceful with the carcass of what was once a Turkey and we were told the next fresh cooked Turkey would not be ready for another hour and three quarters! Other options were a lump of dried up pork and the same of beef. Asked for a refund and left to find a proper restaurant where they know how to treat customers ( Try the Bradford Arms... lovely food and GREAT customer service) Avoid Sheldon Hall Stonehouse or you will regret it. Would leave zero stars if I could.

I booked my table at the Sheldon nobody was there to greet us but at we was early and pub wasn't visit we just sat at our favourite table. The bar staff and man serving at the carvery are very friendly and excellent customer service. The carvery is amazing the best we have had and we have compared a few. The prices are also very reasonable. I would definitely recommend, keep up the good work and the high quality perfectly cooked food

Gone down the middle at a 3 out of 5 for this place. We ordered on the app, and for some reason it went through our end and not the restaurants. This led to a 20 minute wait before we were able to get drinks or our carvery. It was sorted quickly by the manager, but given we were out for a quick meal with a child who wasn’t far off bedtime, it was a bit frustrating to have a wait on an issue that wasn’t our fault. Lost 1 star for this.Food wise, we all had carvery, which was hit and miss. Meats: beef was chewy, but gammon and turkey were nice. Potatoes (both roast and mash) were fabulous, definitely the highlight of the meal. Stuffing was old and solid. Carrots and coliflower cheese were okay, beans and peas were inedible, and tasted as if they were cooked 6 hours previous. Gravy was okay, but a bit lumpy. Lost a second star on food.Overall, with the 50% off voucher it was very good value, but I think we would’ve been disappointed to pay full price. We were also asked by Grace B to leave her a review. We can say she knew her way around the restaurant very well, but given all she did was show us to our table, I think it’s cheating a bit on the competition to go round asking for reviews for this!Overall, we probably wouldn’t come here again, but isn’t the worst meal you’ll ever eat, hence the 3 star rating.

Went previously and was left with mutual feelings on the food.Place used to be extremely stinger with the meat by giving only a tiny piece per customer.Ownership has now changed, I believe, and the whole structure is now a lot better than before.Food extras could be mor, but overall, there food is great, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a Sunday dinner.

Would definitely recommend the delicious carvery at Sheldon Hall, Gressel Lane, B33. Available every day, not just Sundays. Choice of large or small plate under £10 to fill with several types of vegetables, creamy mashed potatoes, crispy but soft roast potatoes, stuffing and cauliflower cheese, three choices of meat, and yorkshire pudding. Sundries include mustard, cranberry sauce, horseradish sauce, and gravy. Highly recommend.

First and last time eating here, carvery was ok I suppose, partner had a meatless carvery and understandably didnt enjoy it. By time my 3 year olds food came out we had already finished eating, we had only ordered a pizza but it was absolutely vile like eating a tasteless dry biscuit she ended up leaving the whole lot. Was told to order from the table or go to the bar, so ordered from the table but had to go up and ask for our drinks anyway after a while as they weren’t brought over. But to top it off the booth we sat in the chairs were absolutely filthy I felt dirty sitting there and that our clothes were touching it, it was really off putting could tell it hadn’t been cleaned for a long time but there was nowhere else for us to sit, overall it was a waste of money and had to come home and cook anyway!! Got asked by a member of staff to leave a review, I probably wasn’t the best person to ask.
