Scrivens Opticians & Hearing Care

I needed a copy of my prescription that had recently been issued after a sight test at scrivens (unfortunately I misplaced it - I try and keep documents safe but could not find it anywhere). Called the branch and asked them to give me the details from my prescription over the phone and they weren't happy to do this. Asked them to email me the prescription and they weren't happy to do this and said I would need to call head office. Called head office who said they could email the store and ask them to issue a copy for me to collect. But I need the copy ASAP, so they said I should go into store to get a copy. Went to the store and was told they could not give me a copy of the script unless an optician had signed it and they had no optician there today so they would have to hold onto it till the morning when an optician would be there to sign it. I suggested they could email or fax it to another store that had an optician there today. The chap went off and rang another store and faxed it over to them to sign, which they did. So I now need to travel to another store to get the prescription. Life's a nightmare anyway when you have three sight disabilities, without a load of jobsworths putting every obstruction in your way. In any case, it's my data so they are legally obliged to give me a copy of my data upon request anyway. To be fair to the chap in the store, he did make some effort to resolve the situation and obviously he's working within a broken system. Needless to say, won't be going back to scrivens again if this is how hard they make it to do business with them. Also not able or willing to measure pupillary distance. So an opticians that doesn't always have an optician and isn't able to do a basic optical service? Very useful...

Don’t go to here. Waste your time. Can’t confirm your appointment. Cancel it but not inform you of this. No optical specialist available, but still call to go and therefore waste my time. Remember not to go this shop.

Enjoyed my eye test here. It was fun

I popped in to explain my mom's hearing aid batteries that had been sent were the wrong ones, a lovely lady rangSomeone who could explain why, anyway the lady sorted me out with the correct one's. Excellent service, I couldn't thank her enough. 10/10

After years of putting off my failing eyesight I decided to make the anxious decision of booking an eye test. Mr Sanjay Thakur was my very friendly Optometrist. He made me feel at ease and has a brilliant way with his patients/customers proper gent!

Had a very thorough eye exam including dye to test tear viscous levels - the first time ever. Quite a few different tests were done and recommendations made and prescriptions adjusted as needed. The lady dealing with my eye test and the gentleman sorting the glasses and tints etc were both really good, professional and helpful. I had four different types of eye tests done today including peripheral vision, dryness, the regular number/colour/letter tests and eye pressure exam. Everything was explained so well. I had no idea so much was going wrong with my sight but coming out of there I felt relief that all my symptoms and complaints had a solution. Thanks.

Always rude staff very unhelpful hate going in they make you feel unwelcome. Do NOT BUY FROM THEM THEY DONT OFFER A REFUND AT ALL THEY HAVE £185.30 of my momey and have stated they may not give me a refund even though the glasses have been returned.

Optician provided alot of key information on eye test. However staff have shown signs of unprofessionalism & unwillingness to help. My voucher for recommendation after chasing up for some time, was orginally sent to the wrong email...then a couple of months later I finally recieved via post. Will not be attending this store again!

Extremely friendly service would definitely recommend place. Change from another large named optician. I found the service here extremely personal . They did not make me feel like another number on there books I wil definitely be booking my next appointment here. The staff members are all friendly that I meet especially Doreen she knows her frames . And Mo the optician was brilliant and double checked what was what with my eyes thank you Kuldip
