Steel Traditional Martial Arts

I joined with a friend last summer. I was a wee bit nervous, at the age of 64, but it's been absolutely great. Nobody batted an eyelid - I'm not even the oldest member. Totally at home there now. An hour lesson goes in a flash. Completely absorbing sport in a really friendly atmosphere, mental stimulation, real all-round physical exercise and a bunch of new friends - perfect ! Way more fun than using exercise machines ( and much better value for money).I didn't know much about Kuk Sool when I started - I was expecting something similar to karate. There are certainly kicks, strikes and blocks, but also a whole lot more, including joint locks and traditional weapons techniques.This is a young and growing club founded and taught by a accomplished and inspiring instructor. Questions are always welcomed - so you gradually get a better understanding of both the techniques and the training methods.The is gym is clean, well equipped, safe and well located away from distractions.

Joining Steel Traditional Martial Arts has been a fantastic experience that I should have considered years ago.My confidence and fitness are improving, I’m learning new skills and meeting new people.The instructor is excellent, very patient, friendly and drives you to always try and do your best.He is assisted by senior grade members who always have time and patience to help you.The facilities are very good and easily accessible.Highly recommend giving it a go.

My son has been in Richard’s class for almost a year and he absolutely loves it. It’s been amazing watching his confidence grow. Richard has been fantastic as has Frances, they take his needs into account and they meet them every time. I genuinely hope that he continues because he has done so well, and enjoys every class and grading. He has really flourished since starting. Thanks so much for all your hard work!

A fantastic martial art taught by a fantastic instructor. With classes available for all ages I can highly recommend that this is, at the very least, worth giving a try if you're considering taking up a martial art or just looking for an alternative way to look after your health. Your first class would be free and the school has recently moved to a larger training space in the centre of Perth. So come and give it a go!

My son started during a COVID online sessions. He loves his teacher and learning self confident, focus, concentration and respect. He loves every single training, grading and tournament. Thanks to his teacher for all hard work and support.

I really enjoy going to classes. I'm 52 and not fit or flexible. Over the last few weeks I have noticed increased fitness and flexibility. The classes are fun and hard, but the rewards are worth it. Richard Steel is a great instructor and is patient with beginners like me. The other students are very friendly and I've made quite a few new friends. Wish I'd started sooner.

My son really enjoys going to his martial arts class here. The instructors are excellent with kids and they provide the right balance of discipline and fun for them. I also like the flexibility of the schedule, so we're able to attend a different day if needs be. I'd definitely recommend KSW Perth for anyone looking into martial arts for their child or themselves.

Our daughter absolutely loves attending Steel Traditional Martial Arts. Her confidence and motor skills have benefited greatly from it. Richard is the perfect instructor: his knowledge, commitment, reliability and enthusiasm have been wonderful throughout, and he is great with kids. Everyone attending the dojo is super friendly and the atmosphere is excellent.
