A hidden gem it's like walking through a lunar landscape and is huge, if you have children co am sure they would enjoy the adventure of walking there plus seeing the wildlife , deer rabbits and many bird species

Unfortunately due to antisocial behaviour and vandalism the Quarry is technically shut at the moment. The lakes have been drained and the carpark is closed. However if you are camping or staying in the area the footpath’s around the quarry and through the quarry are open. It’s closely monitored by locals and the police and there were people patrolling it today. But it’s still an amazing walk.

Disused huge quarry just outside Threshfield. Fascinating to visit. Some conservation work being done but overall an abandoned piece of history

Long walk around and in a disused limestone quarry. Takes about 2 hours to walk right around. Parking nearby, but we walked from the local campsite. The colour of the water is a milky turquoise. Swimming is not permitted, which is a shame as the water looks appealing like a Roman Bath colour. Views from the top are spectacular across the Dales. Not many trees so it's very exposed. Wear good footwear & warm weather gear.

Amazing place for post-industrial walking sites. Dog and child friendly if you keep to the designated paths. The views are fantastic, so it's also an I spiring place for photographers. Plus the singing birds add to this experience. Highly recommended.
