Pennine Way Car Park
It's a small unkempt uneven patch of gravel next to the road, what's not to love!Popular with dog walkers and youths in leased BMWs and Audi's that like to stop here and smoke huge amounts of weed whilst listening to terrible music.

Pennine Way Car Park
The car park is only small so usually full as it's right next to the path, no facilities there either

This is a small car park situated on the A640 a couple of miles from Denshaw, which was accessed from the A672, jct22 M62. The A640 runs through to Huddersfield. I have picked up the Pennine Way from the A672 previously, linking with the A640, this start point. My destination was Marsden, so I took the left trail as signposted, the right being the Pennine Way. The beginning is uphill, then mostly downhill, of course the reverse returning. The trail is a mixture of maintained and rough loose. Care needs to be taken on the latter, so suitable footwear advised. Marsden Moor offers extensive, pleasant views, with only a few other people, so a good place for quiet reflection. The final descent to the the Packhorse Bridge is steep, thereafter easy to Marsden village. I continued on to the Standedge Tunnel, picking up the canal path, passing the Station, and onward towards Slaithwaite. Refreshments can be found at a couple of pubs, signposted from the canal path, and of course in Slaithwaite. This is a pleasant, fairly undemanding walk or cycle ride, easily accessed from Marsden Station and the free National Trust car park, adjacent to the station. Marsden has a a variety of places to eat, my choice being Katie's Homemade Kitchen. As you would expect, there are pubs too. Overall this is a lovely area, with access to walks and hill climbing, including the stunning Wessenden Valley, and a friendly population.
