Isle of Skating

Learned techniques I would've felt too unqualified and frankly scared to try on my own. Definitely ended the course more comfortable on skates and confident!

Such a great course, I learnt loads and our coach Lolli was excellent, good fun and made us all feel really comfortable!

Completed the Ultimate Beginners course and really enjoyed it; I'll definitely be back for the next level after a little more practice!Elsie is an amazing teacher and one of the main reasons why the course exceeded my initial expectations.Elsie's passion and helpfulness are a credit to her, she inspired everyone to not just learn and improve, but to also enjoy every moment. She made time for everyone and by the end, the whole group had come such a long way in just 6 weeks!I would definitely recommend Isle of Skating to anyone looking to learn or get back into skating with a refresher.

I took the level 1 six week skills course in Stockwell. Kay, our instructor was knowledgeable, helpful and thorough in her teaching. I learned a lot, made some new friends and had fun !

I took a few courses with Isle of Skating and learnt so much. Doug (King’s Cross) was great. I also took the Ultimate Beginners course with him and I feel more confident after those 12 weeks. Between classes, we had something to practice, some kind of direction and it really help in my journey. Every week, we learnt something new. He also treated us as equal which I really appreciated (no big ego or feeling of superiority). He made it fun and that’s what it is all about!

Amazing! Having access to the courses has really helped my skate journey. I highly recommend! I couldn’t even stand properly on skates now I can skate up and down a sports hall alone. I’d definitely recommend for any stage you’re at. Lovely instructors too. Well done IOS for providing this space for people like me who know nothing about skating before coming to you.

I have now completed 2 courses with Isle of Skating, both with Shynell. I really like her teaching style. She breaks technique down, including what not to do and why. There is no pressure because she makes you feel comfortable, giving you guidance tailored to your specific skill level, and it works! This brings me to another point - Isle of skating do not enrol too many people on their courses, which makes the individual attention possible. It also means the ratio of space to person is high, which is very important for new skaters, as they tend to get flustered and fall when other skaters get too close.

I have just completed the ultimate beginners course. Unfortunately I didn't get much out of it. The instructor was nice enough but she didn't give much instruction to those who were actually 'ultimate beginners'. We spent most of the hour attempting to skate around by ourselves and every so often she would coach those who had more experience, leaving the rest of us to struggle for the hour. I wouldn't recommend this course for anyone who' hasn't skated before.
