Saint Andrew's Church
There's been a church here for many, many years which is kind of reassuring. It's also nice to think of Samuel Pepys walking round these parts and enjoying the view. There is a calming and soothing atmosphere inside the church in a way only a church can soothe. A nice place for reflection and peace.

*** updated for covid19 ***Open Monday to Friday 9:15 a.m. -5 p.m. for private prayer ;Saturday 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Sunday 2:30 p.m. - 5 p.m.It's a splendid Grade 1 listed medieval church with a building that dates back to the 14th century. Notable for a memorial to Anna Maria Vassa, daughter of Equiano Olaudah, the African.

Saint Andrew's Church
Saint Andrew's Church in Chesterton, Cambridge is a beautiful and historic church that is well worth a visit for anyone interested in architecture, history, or religion. The church is located in a quiet residential area of Chesterton, and its impressive Gothic architecture makes it stand out from its surroundings. The church is dedicated to Saint Andrew, the patron saint of Scotland, and dates back to the 12th century, although much of the current building was constructed in the 14th and 15th centuries. The church's exterior is adorned with intricate carvings, stained glass windows, and a towering spire that can be seen from miles around.Inside, the church is just as impressive, with a stunning nave and chancel, intricate stone carvings, and beautiful stained glass windows. The church also houses several interesting artifacts, including a rare medieval font and a set of 18th-century bells that are still rung regularly. The church is open to visitors throughout the year and welcomes people of all faiths. There are also regular services held at the church, which visitors are welcome to attend.Overall, Saint Andrew's is a must-see for anyone visiting the area. Its stunning architecture, rich history, and peaceful atmosphere make it a truly special place. Whether you are interested in religion, history, or simply enjoy visiting beautiful buildings, this church is definitely worth a visit.

Saint Andrew's Church
The first building dates back to 1200, it was probably a wooden structure, and was replaced with a more substantial stone building in the early 13th century, which was given to the Diocese of Ely in 1225-1228 by Absolom, the then rector. It was rebuilt in 1842-3 in a 15th-century East Anglian style by the architect Ambrose Poynter.

Saint Andrew's Church
St Andrew’s is a thriving, open and welcoming church community for all ages. Once a rural village church with a population of a few hundred, now our parish population is over 9,000 and we seek to live out our Christian faith in a densely populated area of north Cambridge, blending in our church life things traditional and enduring with the fresh and contemporary.St Andrew’s is committed to safeguarding all those who attend the worship and other activities that we offer.St Andrew’s is glad to play host to groups that offer a warm welcome to all who want to come, including the Monday coffee morning (Mondays, 10.15-11.30am, in the Hall) and Church Mice, our group for toddlers and their carers (Thursdays, 9.15-11.30am). We work with other local organisations and churches to organise Chesterton News, our community newsletter, and the annual Chesterton Festival. We welcome those who would like to explore the big questions of life. Our Hard Questions group includes a healthy mix of thoughtful believers and devout sceptics sharing ideas, opinions and experiences. We are always welcoming new people to our Sunday services and each year a number of adults join the Pilgrim course on the way to baptism and/or confirmation. While at the heart of St Andrew’s are many with a deep and rooted faith in Jesus Christ, and we love to help people find faith and grow in it, we will never push people and respect the insights and experiences of all who find a home in our community. Other groups enable members to grow in faith or to explore how Christian insights are to be discovered, for example, in literature or the world of work.We are genuinely an all-age community and our Junior Church is led by a dedicated team of leaders who have a great sensitivity to the spiritual needs and gifts of children and are able to use story, craft, silence, music and Scripture to inspire them (and be inspired by them). We now have a youth worker to help our young people through those difficult and formative years and to bring a youthfulness to our worship and corporate life.Music plays a big part in our church’s life. We have both a director of music and an organist, who lead three choirs that lead us in a musical repertoire ranging from Langlais’ Messe Solennelle to Jonah Man Jazz. The congregation enjoy singing both traditional hymns and modern worship songs from a wide variety of traditions.Every year or two 70-80 of us of all ages enjoy going away on a parish weekend where we have lots of fun and also learn together about our faith.

Terrific ancient paintings on wall above altar. Would be interested to know more about them but no time as I was at a wedding.

5/5 for Zombie Factor. Beautiful scenery at night for any Zombie film. Totally recommend to get your brains eaten. Might be a little scary to walk through that place at night though...
