Jonathan Draper

We love Jonathan's music teaching! He has been teaching me as an adult starter on cello for close to two years and is now teaching piano to all three of my teenage kids. Jonathan's teaching of course covers technique and developing skills but he also has an infectious enthusiasm for bringing out the musicality and life of whatever we're doing. With cello, he has a wonderful knack of being able to spot precisely the mechanics of what I'm doing wrong, which is helpful for me to focus on what to change, rather than leaving me just knowing what the end result should be. Similarly, he is great at spotting mental blocks and knowing when a different approach is needed. Jonathan uses a wide range of musical styles in his teaching, from baroque to modern and including jazz/blues improv with my kids, all of which is good fun and builds musical understanding and confidence. All three of my children enjoy playing piano and are getting an increasing amount of satisfaction from it. I've enjoyed learning cello since I started too - sometimes the odd note sounds okay now as well! Jonathan's teaching means that exams can be tackled with confidence, although they aren't usually the main focus of lessons. I've recommended Jonathan to a number of friends already and am delighted to add this positive review too.

Jonathan is a fantastic teacher, he is great at working with each child's musical preferences and learning styles. For us, having a teacher who also plays cello (our son's other instrument) is an added bonus. Jonathan has been a great help with not just getting what's on the page into the fingers"

Jonathan is a passionate and knowledgable piano teacher. Definitely recommend him. I’ve been taking lesson for nearly 1.5yrs and I’m really happy with him.I’m not young anymore, so learning something new is not easy for me, but Jonathan is really good on giving me reasonable tricks on how to improve and learn...he has a lot of patience!!! Jon has been guiding me through my grade 5 pinao and has helping take my singing from awful to being able to singthe correct pitch. He's patient and easy to talk to, and I couldn't ask for anyone better.
