Shayla looked after my dad at the weekend. I was his sole cared and he had been poorly for years. It was apparent that I needed respite but dad was extremely reluctant to have anyone else in his home. Shayla was so patient and kind. She followed our routine exactly so dad had consistency. She was extremely punctual which really helped him settle with her. She took the lead from him on his mood but she completely won him over with her friendly manner and kindness. She was genuinely concerned for him and for me also and I felt completely at ease leaving dad in her care. I would recommend her to anyone in a heartbeat. She made a massive difference to my dad’s and my family’s life at a difficult time. Can’t thank her enough!

I would not hesitate to recommend Shayla at Care At Home York. We first met Shayla when my aunt had been discharged from hospital and needed extra care. Shayla was a godsend to us at a very difficult time for my aunt with her mobility awkward and painful (after a fall) and her confidence was shattered. Shayla was so patient, understanding and compassionate that she soon had my aunt on the road to recovery. Always reliable, punctual, adaptable and professional, she built a wonderful relationship with my aunt who looked upon Shayla as her friend. I would actually see my aunts face light up when Shayla arrived. As a family she supported us too, her knowledge and expertise was invaluable to us, not only in the best care and support for my aunt, but the minefield of the law and getting support from social workers and the local council. For us knowing that my aunt was in such safe and conscientious hands was so reassuring for us.

Shayla came to help my parents through a difficult and stressful time. She immediately radiated professionalism, reliability, and as my mum said ‘comfort’. With her knowledge and experience and her positivity, we regard Shayla as a blessing and a fixture. She is the perfect choice if you hope to build a trusting, solid and caring relationship over time, between your parent and their care provider, and between you and the person you are trusting to help them.
