Pheasants Roost Shepherds Hut
The Pheasants Roost Shepherds Hut was an absolute gem and the perfect little getaway. A beautiful location and the hut was clean and well presented and nothing was too much bother for Pauline or Jim. They were friendly, welcoming and provided us with information on walks and places to visit. Capturing the sunset in the hot tub was a complete highlight and something that we’ll hold on to, until our next trip! We’d definitely come back again. Thank you!

Absolutely lovely little get away. Very quaint, very relaxing, very welcoming. We were here for 2 nights, the hosts are very friendly, everything you need for the stay is provided, we BBQ'd both nights and spent the evenings in the wood fired hot tub. Very private area, the local village has a shop and a pub. The hut is comfortable and clean. Would come back next week =)

This was our second stay at Pheasants Roost and it was just as perfect as the first. Pauline is such a wonderful host, she remembered us from last year. Pauline is just a genuinely lovely person, nothing is a trouble and we are grateful for the lovely words and memories she shared with us of our sausage dog who passed this year. He loved this place and so do we. See again soon. Thank you!

Pheasants Roost Shepherds Hut
We recently stayed for 4 nights at this Shepherds Hut in North Yorkshire with our 10 year old labrador cross dog, Ellie. We chose this Hut because we were able to take Ellie with us. We did not think at first that we would make use of the portable fence but once we had it in place it was invaluable at limiting how far our inquisitive dog could explore beyond the Hut door. Pauline, the owner, suggested some walks in the area and Ellie enjoyed the 20 minute one through the woodland nearly every day.The scenery in the area is breath taking with wide open views of farmland and the North Yorkshire Moors in the far distance, most of it visible from the drop down table in the Hut. Early risers will be treated to a very melodious dawn chorus punctuated by a distance cockerel's cry and the call of the, almost resident, Pheasant. The Shepherd's Hut was exceptionally clean and well looked after, and very well equipped for two people though Pauline very kindly lent an extra layer of her steamer when we decided to cook a full dinner. As is to be expected in such a compact space, storage can be a bit of a problem but bags and suitcases can be stored under the bed to be pulled out when needed. Definitely a case of a place for everything and everything in its place when using crockery and utensils. We never needed to use the log burner, and the portable electric heater only a few times as we were never cold. The bed was very comfortable with plump pillows and a duvet, and the two folding chairs were comfortable to sit on to watch the television which had a good choice of Freeview channels. We soon got the hang of the two ring hob and learnt how to regulate the heat. Also learnt how to arrange the small fridge to keep everything cool. We didn't make use of the washing machine or freezer in an adjacent utility room. We also found the selection of maps of the area very interesting which are stored in the same room. Neither did we book the Hot Tub as it did not appeal to us but it looked interesting. All in all we enjoyed our stay in this lovely Shepherds Hut and although we had expected it to be a bit more isolated, we were only aware of the occupants of Rose Cottage when we were both at our cars and only saw Pauline the odd time out and about but knew she was available if we needed her.We would highly recommend the Pheasant's Roost for a short stay.

Wonderful hosts, nothing was a problem. The shepherds hut was immaculate and had everything you needed. Had a couple of nice wanders and we were very lucky to have nice weather.. albeit the Friday when we arrived and it was absolutely pouring down. Definitely recommend

Wonderful long weekend with a very nice hot tub.We stayed in the Pheasants Roost for 2 nights and had a great time, the weather was in our favour and the area is really nice with lots to see which we didn't get time to see everything but nonetheless we both enjoyed our stay here.Thank you to Pauline & Jim for making our stay memorable, you're both lovely people and it was great to meet you both.Last but not least, we would never have heard of Pheasants Roost if it wasn't for Luke who gifted us a couple of nights stay at this wondaful hut for our wedding, so thank you Luke.We would 100% recommend staying here for a long weekend or even a getaway during the week. Will definitely be back in the future. :)Xanthe + Shaz
