Perfect Northern Soul venue but only negative is that's it's so good you must arrive really early to get seats. 11 of us had to leave as no seating downstairs and they wouldn't open the balcony for us.

Fantastic rejuvenated community resource. Visited for one of the first monthly craft fairs. This is a monthly event on the first Sunday of each calendar month. I was very impressed with the various stalls on show. Lots of passionate, skilful, creative people sharing their passion with you. A good place to pick up presents for birthdays and Christmas! Food available on site.

Great venue - bit empty and soul less - but that old skool hall vibe I remember from childhood. Dark wood, a stage, balcony, plenty of seating. Holds martial arts fights/tournaments regularly and can be hired for practically anything.

What can I say about Portobello as a place and the town hall in particular, i visit Edinburgh at least once a month i fell in love with the city and its people after my 3rd or 4th visit, the town hall hold a Northern Soul night once a month it is one of the best venues i have ever visited if your into northern soul then this without a doubt is the place for you

The hall itself is of moderate size. The event I attended was small and there was plenty of space.
