Student Roost - Buchanan View

This is going to be a detailed review so buckle up.The first and foremost thing I like about this accommodation is the value for the money. For the money you pay, you get a good room, in a good location which is great to begin with. The location is something that makes this place on top of my list because it is convenient.The major landmarks are only walking distance away:Buchanan Galleries/Bus Station - 10 minsRailway station - 12 minsTesco Express/Extra - 3mins/18minsRoyal Infirmary Hospital - 15minsG1Dentist - 10 minsCineworld - 12 minsNow about the room:It is a cozy small ensuite with a good storage place. The kitchen is big enough and comes with all amenities. I like my room especially after I personalised it to my taste. Though if I am being nit-picky I am not a great fan of the grey color carpet.The bathroom is just okay, I had a hard time trying to figure out how to clean the floor coz there was no drainage except in the shower area and the water would just stay there.Speaking about hygiene, the premises are always cleaned every day in the morning except for Sundays but I have to admit I have seen it messy later in the day. Also, there are rats around in the premises next to the garbage but I have never seen them inside so the place is not infested. Rats are a common sight in the UK so just bear that in mind every time you take your trash out.My experience with the reception and the staff has been nothing but pleasant so far. I find them to be friendly and sweet.So my overall experience staying here has been very pleasant, and I recommend this place very much. Health and safety of residents were seen to be one of the highest priorities of BV during this period of covid -19. They implemented new measures to promote sanitisation and social distancing, without compromising on the warm, vibrant atmosphere mostly contributed by friendly and helpful staff members. Student Roost has also been very understanding of students' concerns during this time, being willing to adapt their policies to provide us with further support. It was already a cosy and comfortable place to stay in before, and seeing their response to everything that's happened makes me feel even more grateful for having decided to stay with BV. Thank you.

Stayed here 7 years ago and was the best student accommodation in Glasgow at the time. Others were run down and dull, but this was bright and cheerful. A lot of good memories here and hope it still lives up to my testimony

Great location, the flats are very nice and have everything you need. The staff is very kind and helpful. At the beginning of the semester we had some problems with the fridge, but they repaired it quickly, so the maintenance in the apartments is also great!

terrible service. wouldn’t recommend them at all. the lift has been broken for over 2 months and nothing is being done. for this price there are better accommodations out there.

Best student accommodation I have ever been in, the staff are amazing, so polite and helpful

I am staying here for 2 months. I am truely enjoying my staying. It is close to City Center so, when I need to buy anything I can easily get my things and also bus station is nearby. The facilities are good, staffs are friendly. I paid my rent lately as I had some problem with my bank. But they don't bother me to pay my rent lately. And it is affordable also. I highly recommend this accommodation.

The service is not at all good and charge a lot for this pathetic service. The staffs are even not polite. We were complaining about the electricity cutoff after we turn on the cooker top but still no action was taken and we have to adjust without using 2 out of 4. They neither have any social place other than that small lounge. Will suggest some other accommodation like Collegelands that is at same price with better facilities.

Grandson at Strathclyde uni, returned him here after the christmas break, he is enjoying here. Common space appeared to be good, the apartments were having kitchens updated and are a good size. Bedrooms are good with ensuite only down side I could see was students who miss mum tidying after them. Also have secure bike storage, nearly forgot location. Ideal for centre of Glasgow, shops, bars and restaurants

Buchanan View Halls have a lovely social community with plenty of facilities. The staff (the whole group of people from our receptionist to the security guards) are friendly and are dealing very quickly with any issue appearing. As safety is a crucial issue for all the students, I can tell that I feel very safe. I do recommend for students to live the experience of making new friends as well as joining parties and the cheerful times at our common room (watching TV, playing table games, pool and more). I've been enjoying my time so far and I will be living here the following year too, as this accommodation is less than five minutes far away from University.
