The Bannockburn Inn

Called in for a quick pint at the end of a walk. Had a cracking pint and then got stuck into the whisky after some smashing advice from the lovely guy behind the bar, his whisky knowledge was only outshone by his local history, some great tales told, brilliant.

Lovely little apartment for a family of five. Felt right at home, apartment had everything we needed after a long drive up. Would have given it five stars but wish it had a hair dryer as weather is cold and not great stepping out with wet hair!

Called in for a drink and a meal whilst in Helmsdale. Great service from friendly staff and a lovely meal.

I read the reviews here when booking accommodations, and a few reviews weren't the kindest, so I was a little unsure as I booked the twin room with a shared bathroom. It was the first time I've ever booked with a shared bathroom. So here was my experience.Upon arriving, we found a dedicated parking lot with a parking space for each room. That was nice as some of the smaller towns can be a challenge to find parking. Check-in was as simple as some of it was completed online with a link that was emailed to us with arrival instructions. We were shown to our room. We had to walk up an older metal stair case in the back to access the rooms. It was perfectly safe. The room had everything we needed. A little coffee/tea set up, comfortable bed that was bigger than some single beds I've had. I'm 6ft 1 and was comfortable. Had two nicer pillows and not the cheap, thin ones. We had 2 very large bath towels, a sitting area for 2, and TV. The room was comfortable. The windows opened wide and let in plenty of air. The only thing missing was a fan, which would have been nice to have. The area we stayed in would be best described as a small condo. We had full access to a nice kitchen, and using the bathroom was easier than expected. The other family staying the same night as us was quiet and we only saw them once. The road noise at times was a but much but during overnight it wasn't as bad. We have a sound app on our phones, which really helped drown out the other nosies as the units aren't very soundproof.In summary, for the price, it was better than expected and would book it again.Tip: If using the bathroom or kitchen take your key with you as when your door shuts, it will lock automatically.

Unassuming pub but attentive landlord and very pleasant Sheepshagers Gold" ale despite the name!"

It was very quiet, we arrived to early for a meal so went somewhere else and then went there for drinks

Lovely place to sit and have a couple of drinks staff are very friendly and the locals are brilliant I would recommend this place and score it 10 out of 10
