Fantastic customer service and knowledge. Adam the sales person really knew the bike and system I was interested in, taking the time to explain it all in an honest and open way. I really appreciated the relaxed, non-pushy style - after booking a test ride, I returned the bike that day, but purchaced from the store a month later after a little more research. Really happy with my Trek Fetch+ 2 and the service! Toni the mechanic was also super helpful, making sure I was happy with the setup and accessories, even installing parts I wasn't sure about just to try them out.

Great experience! I rolled into the Notting Hill shop unannounced at the end of the day in desperate need of a bike box for an international flight the following day. Not only did they gift me a box, they let me use the pit, packing materials and their pedal spinner to pack up my bike. Everyone was super accommodating, helpful and wished me well on my journey. Won’t hesitate to come back next time I’m in Notting Hill. Thanks!

This Balfe’s in particular is super. Very friendly, helpful and patient both sales and mechanics. Been a number of times now and consistently well served. Last time I had ordered online for pickup but there had been too long a delay so I’d be leaving for a cycle tour before the tool arrived so they gave me their own for free (and would backfill with the ordered part) and also gave me some spoke nipples and rim tape. The next service I need I’ll definitely be using them.

I wanted to thank Adam and Toni for their time and kindness in helping me with an issue with my Pashley last week. They were both so knowledgeable and helpful: the mudguard was dragging on the front wheel and they adjusted it free of charge, and also offered advice about a seat post nut. Not only that, but whilst I was there I noticed that they helped a lady who was in a wheelchair and fixed something for her, refusing payment even though she offered to pay. I was so touched to see that, and it was obvious they had made this lady’s day. This is a really well run, lovely local bike shop, and I would thoroughly recommend it!

Amazing service from a one-stop shop providing all the solutions your bike needs. Tony has been serving me giving me all the viable options and then my bike came 2 days after our first interaction in the shop. Give them a call if you’re a cycle-to-work scheme user, they will certainly make your life easier! 5 star is an understatement, I’ll give Balfe’s Bike Notting Hill (and Tony, subsequently) all the stars I can give!

My family used to be regulars here, but I did not think a trivial bike repair here could endanger my safety and health and lead to a traffic accident. After acknowledging that it was their fault, Balfe's provided no support, repairs, compensation or even basic sense of humanity. I came in for a simple inner tube change, as I had done before here. After riding the bike the next morning after the ‘repair’, my bike’s front wheel suddenly collapsed on the road and I fell, leaving bruises, a broken bike from the fall, and eventually scars. Fortunately, there was no car behind me or it would have took a turn for the worse. Another bike shop near the accident informed me something on the wheel had likely been broken or removed by Balfe’s Bike in the repair. I brought it back to Balfe’s Bike shop with the simple request of making sure I could be back on the road again, through either repair or compensation. At first they were apologetic, helpful and reassuring. Eventually, nothing happened and I had to chase up my request for three months before they informed me they would not help me in any way, unless I wanted a lawsuit. I did not want a lawsuit dear reader, I wanted to bike to uni. Now I’m left with scars, a broken bike and a strong dislike of this seemingly quality shop - sometimes ratings are deceptive and individual cases tell us more about the risk you are taking going to this shop. Really surprised by the complete lack of humanity, care for my safety and customer support. Dear reader, one star is starting to sound like a lot. Would not recommend.

I bought a bike here on Cyclescheme and had a good experience. Firstly they held the bike I wanted with a refundable deposit while I waited for the Cyclescheme process was completed by my employer and the payment came through. Secondly I took it back for the free tune-up you get as part of the Scheme. I reported an issue which they said they looked into, and when I came to collect I had to ask them to clean the handlebar grips as they’d got a bit dirty in the workshop, but they were helpful and cleaned the grips for me. However the issue wasn’t quite resolved so I took it back for another look, this time asking for the mechanic to ride the bike to check. The my were happy for me to talk to the mechanic who did the work who explained it was a dirty drivetrain - perhaps this should have been picked up before but no matter they put it right. They found a puncture (it was news to me that I had a flat) and fixed the inner tube on the house. And this time the grips had been cleaned before handing the back back to me. I was impressed with the way they put things right, talked me though the work they’d done and the condition of the bike when they returned it. It’s good to have them in this area.

I love it here! I brought my old second hand bike in this morning and Tony was so friendly and helpful. He helped me pick out a basket which suited my price range and installed it for me free of charge. He was happy to answer any of questions. All round lovely experience :)

Really friendly and helpful staff! Popped in the shop to see if they could help me adjust the position of the back wheel on a single speed bike. They not only adjusted it free of charge, but also showed me which parts I could buy online to prevent it from happening again in the future. Thank you so much for your help!

Absolutely amazing, kind and helpful staff/mechanics they’ve got there!!!The brake cable of my rear wheel broke down in the middle of the road while I was cycling to uni and I had to find a nearby bike store to help me with the problem. The mechanic helped me repair the fault immediately but since they couldn’t fix it 100% in such a short time they still made sure there was a usable brake so that I can continue to be safe on the road. I really appreciate their help and kindness!! Thank you!
