Norbert and his team gave a warm greeting, we stayed in one of their room, lovely and cosy. Very dog friendly with dog treat on arrival. Brought our friends along for lunch, service was impeccable and the food was amazing. Our friends who live nearby will definitely be visiting again. Thankyou.

These guys have absolutely nailed it. Operating a pub with so much history to it isn’t easy, but they have accommodating staff, beautiful rooms, and wonderful food and drink. Go have a stay, you won’t regret it. I’m pretty sure the folks here with low ratings think they’re staying at the Ritz. This is a pub and the experience they offer is exactly what it should be!

I am not one who normally leaves a review but on this occasion we found the experience to be wholly underwhelming and a massive disappointment. It’s a great pub in a great location but they really do need to step up their game. There were 8 of us for a birthday celebration dinner on Saturday night. The general ambience of the pub is great but goes down hill in the restaurant and needs some background music. There appear to be enough staff who are pleasant enough but don’t seem to have the experience or confidence. Most of the options we would have selected on the menu were not available which left us with a very restricted choice.I noticed a previous response about all the ingredients being fresh - well they couldn’t even do chips so someone really needs to work on the sourcing and stocking of supplies. The bread and Olives for 7.95 was a French stick you could get in any supermarket and the balsamic was more like malt vinegar. The food took almost an hour to come and people on other tables next to us were walking out as the service took so long.We persevered , but when the food came I’m not sure we should have. We didn’t get value for money, it was expensive and pretty shoddy and none of us would go back which is a shame as we ate there a couple of months ago and had recommended it. We paid the bill without complaining but left without even considering desserts or coffees…

It had been a while since we’d been to the King’s Head for a meal. My goodness, it didn’t disappoint! The staff were really welcoming and friendly, the food was to die for and they looked after our dog as well as they looked after us! Can’t wait to go back!! 10/10

Visited for a birthday dinner (not my booking), arrived early evening. First issue was finding the entrance!? The main door actually just says fire escape" which was a little interesting.Restaurant nice

It is a cosy country pub and a lovely place to stay. We stayed for 1 night but wish it could have been longer. The room was spacious and had a lovely big bath. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, especially Flow who made our evening meal a delite! The food was exquisite and it was a great atmosphere made even better by having an unexpected live singer. Over all a genuinely spectacular place to stay and eat. Thank you for a lovely escape from reality.

Nice room and pub but several things relating to staff let the visit down. Unable to eat dinner there on Sunday night as they don’t have an evening food service (staffing I think). Went out to eat elsewhere came back and completely closed and locked out of hotel at 8.15pm! Managed to get in round back via the Kitchen as fortunately they were working late on a clean. Nobody thought to tell us how to get back in or that they would be closing. Very worrying and poor. Breakfast a disaster too, an hour or more for a bacon roll & eggs Benedict. Apparently chef first time doing breakfast got nervous and couldn’t make hollandaise. All guests had breakfast cost refunded. Manager did listen and was very proactive which was impressive but let down by his staff.

We had a lovely stay at the King’s Head celebrating our anniversary. We stayed in a lovely suite which had been really nicely converted and had everything we needed. Staff were all super friendly and attentive even when things got really busy for them. Delicious food (and cocktails!) - the mini doughnuts for pudding deserve a special mention, incredible! Thanks so much for a lovely stay.

Fantastic staff. Beautiful pub and lovely, comfortable rooms. Mandy was so helpful when situations beyond our control meant that we arrived very late. The chef offered to make us fish and chips despite the kitchen being closed. Norbert offered a friendly welcome at breakfast which was delicious. Excellent value and would love to stay again.

Visited on Sunday afternoon to celebrate a family birthday. Food is very overpriced for the quality received no better quality or presentation than a cheap pub chains offering but about 3 x the price. Most of the ale options on the drinks menu were not available. Service was slow to no existent had to wait over 30 mins for the main course plates to be cleared once finished.Would not recommend or be returning
