Monkhouse Hill, Lake District Cottages

A group of 21 of us stayed at the cottages for a hen weekend and it was perfect! All the facilities and space we could have wanted. Cottages were clean and all kitted out. Beautiful views, good location - only £25 in a taxi from Carlisle train station. Hot tub, games room, green space, sauna. Would highly recommend, thanks for having us!

Family holiday to celebrate our 40th anniversary, party of 10 and dogs, we had the most wonderful time together, making memories ! ❤️We would highly recommend all services they had to offer.

Lovely property, well maintained & friendly helpful staff.Our family had a wonderful time there. Plenty of space for 11 of us plus dogs.Good field for cricket & footie. Games room was a hit with the older ones as was the hot tub.Would use again if in the area.

Clovenstone cottage was fantastic, beautiful scenery and the hot tub is great to relax in after a day of exploring.

Very special place. Lovely cottage, brilliantly equipped kitchen, nice decor, cosy fire and nice hot tub. Grounds well kept too and kids appreciated the games room. Lots of little extras that really made Monkhouse stand above other holiday cottages. Utterly recommended.

A really great place - immaculate cottages, beautifully maintained grounds, very clean hot tubs and great facilities for older children. We came for a family reunion holiday and it was fantastic. Playground/balconies perhaps not ideal for the smaller kid - a climbing toddler - I'd definitely return when he's a bit older and perhaps a bit more sensible! Staff (Gemma and team) were brilliant and proactive. Really really recommend Monkhouse Hill - a fantastic and memorable holiday.

The perfect place for a Lake District getaway. We stayed in the Fisher Gill cottage, perfectly sized for a couple to stay in. Other cottages looked bigger for larger parties.Every conceivable convenience was provided for us, down to cleaning products and dishwashing items. Complimentary wine and biscuits also made us feel very welcome.The rooms in the cottage are lovely and have a cozy feeling, the bed in particular was extremely comfortable. We happily had 2 nights in and made use of the hot tub in the well looked after garden patio.The grounds are very well kept, and a secure gate keeps the site safe. We didn't explore the onsite game room or play park, but it's worth noting they're there for families staying here.We'd happily come back and will recommend to others.

Location probably should be a 5, all depends what you want. You can’t walk anywhere but if you have a car and want peace, it is lovely. A really nice games room with huge tv, pool table and tons of board games. As well as a fridge so you can bring some drinks while you play
