Fantastic, professional and caring service and expertise. I have been wearing contact lenses for many years, supplied by a different opticians, but felt that neither the comfort nor the vision of my previous lenses were very good. However once Indie had fitted me with other lenses, I couldn't believe the difference they made! I can now see properly (probably for the very first time!!) and the comfort of my new lenses is amazing. I can wear them all day and not feel an enormous desire to remove them by late afternoon - they are SO comfortable. Thank you so much - they really have changed my sight!!!

Sadly I’m going to need to revise my glowing review of over 6 years ago. I’ve made it very clear that post pandemic my finances are limited but I will pay for whatever is necessary for eye health. During the consultation it was suggested I needed an OCT test (which I agreed to) at £69 which it turns out costs from £10-£25 at other opticians and which they say on the Leightons website is £40 if accompanying a free NHS eye test. I asked for a refund later but was told I’d had several tests which were not mentioned in the consultation. At the time of the consultation I also booked a contact lens appointment for daily contact lenses. I was quoted £89 for that and it turns out that most opticians do that for free. I asked how much daily contact lenses for a month would cost and I was quoted £59 (pack of 30) and I’ve checked with other St Albans opticians and been quoted £20-£40 per month (pack of 30) dependent on which are the most suitable lenses. I appreciate we all need to make a living but feel that this is excessive. To be as fair as possible I’m leaving my original positive review from 6 years ago below.I'm sad to see that some people have had bad experiences here. My experience has only ever been positive. I need to buy very complex very expensive glasses that require a lot of expertise to test for and prescribe, and I have been satisfied with the service

Brilliant service and experience with Leightons as a first-time customer yesterday. The team were welcoming and friendly. Preena who did my eye check-up was excellent and very informative.

I cannot thank Indie and the team at Leighton's enough! My 9 year old daughter has been wearing her contact lenses for a little over a month now and she's doing brilliantly! The care and support Indie gave us from consultation to teaching her how to put in and take out her lenses herself has been amazing. Indie was fun and reassuring and made the whole experience very easy and enjoyable for us. Thank you!

Indie and his team are brilliant. My eye check was really overdue and my glasses were falling apart. Trends have moved on and now most glasses have no pads but it did want one with them. They were very encouraging and helped me find a new frame that was not what I wanted, but what I needed. It's hard to try on glasses when you have severe myopia but one of the staff (if you are reading this review I'm sorry I can't remember your name!) took a picture of me and it's the best portrait I've ever had taken and the frames looked stunning and I just couldn't say no. My wife also agrees, and even my 3 year old keeps sayingdaddy your neg glasses are very nice"."

We’ve been coming to Indie for a couple of years now and have always had great service and I always feel confident that the children’s eyes have been thoroughly checked. Similar to the previous reviewer, our daughter is short sighted and has been wearing glasses to help see the board at school. After further testing, Indie also noted a delay in focusing on close up print. Our 11 year old daughter now has bifocal glasses which she says make a big difference in what she can see. She is reading a lot more now and is finding that her eyes are a lot less tired. Thank you Indie and team.

Just wanted recommend Leighton’s Opticians in St. Albans for your optical needs. I moved to St. Albans in September and had been using an independent optician where I used to live. I was sceptical of using a High Street chain, but wary of using an independent again since I didn’t have a great experience with one I used for 5 years prior to my move here.So I went with Leighton’s to get my eye exam and contact lenses. I’ve been impressed with their great customer service. For example, the contacts lenses I ordered didn’t arrive in time before I went on holiday, so they gave me, free of charge, 10 pairs to carry me over. (Usually my lenses only take 3-4 days for for them to arrive once ordered).I don’t think they’re the cheapest option, but for me the friendly staff, professionalism, and cut above service works for me.

Indie and Sara have always made me and my family welcome and have been exceptionally supportive and professional at taking care of all aspects of eye care. They have invested in keeping their practice up to date with all the latest equipment I have full confidence in knowing my eye health is in excellent hands. Thank you see you at my next appointment.

Absolutely amazing service! Having struggled with my vision for nearly 2 years, after a cataract operation at the age of 36 gave me double vision, I have battled with other opticians & hospitals to try and get some help. In desperation I made an appointment with Indie...not expecting much to be honest, but he actually listened to me, he didn’t fob me off, he genuinely listened and understood why I was struggling. His recommendation was contact lenses rather than my usual glasses. He took his time to explain to me why I was having so many issues and why contact lenses my help. Even though my case isn’t a simple one, he thought outside the box and I trialled the contact lenses. Not one of the previous opticians had even mentioned this before. Having had my second appointment today, I genuinely cannot thank Indie enough for helping me when so many others haven’t even tried. I will never see another optician. I am a customer for life. The time, care, friendliness and fantastic outcome in just 2 appointments is amazing! Thank you so much.

I’m so impressed with their fantastic professional service especially during lockdown. We urgently needed a replacement pair of glasses for my son and they went above and beyond. Such a efficient service. Would highly recommend! Thank you v much Leightons!
