Food was very nice, thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast burger with some avocado on the side. Very disappointed in the small size of the orange juice glass. Didn’t look like the picture and was half ice but didn’t ruin the meal. Staff were friendly and helpful when I had an issue with a missing egg tried to sort it and ended up refunding me as I was leaving in the end. Would eat here again.

I love this place but why on Earth do you not do syrups for coffee? Literally every coffee shop does syrups even general merchants does honey like I want a sweet iced coffee and my only option to have it in any way sweet is to assault it with satchets of sugar in a desperate attempt for any of it to somehow dissolve enough for me to taste it. Get syrups please!

Food as far as cafes go was very good, service on other hand was one of the worst I've ever experienced by one particular server .. to say I was shocked is an understatement I should of walked out but we had already paid and didn't want to spoil a precious morning date. Thankfully the food is good and was a highlight bit the poor service made it hard to enjoy anything else. I work in hospitality I know to respect the workers .. but its rare they show zero respect for the customer off the mark to this extent. Will never be back.

I would like to appreciate the staff and the service they give to customers. I had an online interview and they were very cooperative and cordial; and easy my stress they dusted a wee bit of chocolate powder…Thank you for the wonderful service.

This place has went unbelievably downhill . Breakfast bap was cold greasy and horrible with a sprinkle of dead rocket salad . AVOID the dirty toilet at all costs or you will vomit your greasy breakfast up . Health and safety need to look into this place

I decided to give Canteen a second chance after a substandard first visit, but won’t be back again. I’ll credit the quality of food, but is crazily overpriced when compared to other options on the Ormeau road.Most memorably, service attitude and speed was appalling, with drinks taking upwards 30 minutes to get to the table. It wasn’t busy, yet staff were incredibly slack towards customers, seemingly more interest on getting back to laughing with each other than customer service. When drinks arrived, the cups were dirty, especially the hot chocolate which had grim preparation spillage stains on the mug :/.I wouldn’t mind as much if the prices were reasonable, but drinks are upwards of a pound more expensive than my usual Ormeau road cafe (general merchant). £3.65 for a basic hot chocolate served in a grubby cup after a half hour wait just isn’t good enough. So disappointed.

My first trip to Canteen was a really positive one. I loved the style and vibe of the cafe, it was very spacious and in the current circumstances of Covid-19 they have established a great one way system and flow which works well. I got the bacon and avocado brioche bap and it was delicious. The coffee was lovely but was not as hot as I would of liked. One thing I wasn’t a fan of was that at the minute they are serving all there food in takeaway boxes, even if you are sitting in, that took away abit from the experience of going out for brunch. We went after midday on a Sunday and had to queue and as we got seated the queue got bigger so I would keep this in mind before planning to go. The staff were very friendly and the cafe is also dog friendly which is a big plus.

I had good expectations for this place, £28 today for oats, a small fry, coffee and two juice. That’s pretty expensive, for £28 I’d expect the quality that I’d receive elsewhere. Waited at the counter after a siting for ten minutes at my table, not sure if there was table service, the service at the counter certainly wasn’t prompt, not even polite. I got a juice, my daughter was given a watered down glass of juice full of water. The sausage I got had to be spat out, cheap horrible processed meat, sorry, but that’s what it tasted like. Nice little spot with a lot of potential, however, they should only be charging those prices if the quality of food and produce justifies the cost, i’d be back irrespective if the service was poor but the quality of food gives it a 2 out of 5 and puts me off coming back.

Popped in for a bite to eat for lunch with my partner and was not disappointed. I don't drink coffee so cannot comment myself however my partner seemed rather pleased with her cappuccino. We ordered toasties with chorizo and chicken and one with cheese and shredded ham hock which were absolutely delicious. I'm a big foodie and I will definitely have to return to try some more off the menu.Currently they are using a QR code scanner type system were you take a seat and order and pay on the website and the food is brought to your table. The technology works pretty effortlessly with the staff which, at the minute, is a big thing for me as a lot of places still don't seem to have gotten the hang of this yet and it can be frustrating when it seems to go wrong. I had no issues with this system here whatsoever. The menu is easy to navigate once you scan the QR code and it looks nice too.The fact that the spaces to sit in are divided up and have different shapes and styles means that I think this place could have a slightly different feel to it each time you visit....I'll have to test this out further though. There is outdoor seating including picnic benches and a fair amount of indoor seating too. The staff all seemed friendly and helpful and the place is clean and tidy too.Overall definitely 5 stars.
