YHA Idwal Cottage

Nice and clean yha, nice big kitchen, great view and good service. Only downside is that there's no wifi and since you have practically no reception, leaves you cut of from the rest of the world.

Very nice location with a full range of walks available right on the door step. Very friendly staff.EDIT: We have been visiting this YHA for over 6 years now and still love it. The site is so well situated and its just the right size for the number of guests plus the staff are still brilliant.There are only two small downsides, the first is the change to the local parking as the YHA specific parking is now on a chargeable base however its a reduced fee if you are staying but the wording on the boards is not massively clear.Secondly the site now has WiFi - whilst I do understand its great to keep in touch one of the charms of this place was no internet and families spent their time in the games room talking and playing games. Now its filled with people chatting to their friends / relatives / anyone and the games room is really noisy. Although being able to check the weather and plan walks online is nice... but the weather is posted by the staff on the board and we all have physical OS maps so should be able to cope without it.However still love this place, still will come back!

Great hostel in an ideal location with friendly staff and excellent facilities, including a fully equipped kitchen, large communal (with a pool table that needs £1 coins to play), seating area, toilets, showers and a dry room.

My first hostel stay. Fantastic! Host super friendly and explained everything. Well equipped kitchen with everything you need: pots, pans, crockery, cutlery, even t towels and washing up liquid. Rooms very clean, bed linen provided.Location is stunning. Walk out the door and you're straight into the mountains.

We stayed in the hut outside which was amazing, the beds are super comfy. Kitchen was clean and spacious. Could do with having more showers onsite but that's my only gripe. Parking charges can be abit confusing, definitely read the parking notice boards to see how it works.

No nonsense hostel, pretty basic but covers most needs of hikers. Restrooms and showers could be better. I camped and the camping area is in between the trees, small but secluded. There is some noise from the A road or a nearby busy parking, if you are a bad sleeper. Great location for a start of the hike up to the ridge or Tryfan. No WiFi but good info stands at the park centre giving essential weather info and such.

One of the most amazing place I have ever been to. The walks around are something else, the hostel itself is on a beautiful spot, friendly staff, comfortable beds, all in all, can't wait to be back.

Omg... unbelievable place. It is surrounded by mountains and peaks. Beautiful location. Calm place. Can't recommend for family, as it is lonely and scary at night. No signal though. But that is the point. You get disconnected from other world. Enjoy the nature amidst llyn idwal. One of my favourite lake is just beside the accomodation.A must go place. Morning walks near the location is peaceful.
