Visiting since the late 80's. Nothing fancy, the places that gave it character have largely gone. I still find it perfectly safe to visit, and the numerous takeaways are actually quite good. Criticisms are usually a case of the change of demography bringing out the race element in people, who taking parting shots as they move out, escape from the likes of 'me', to remote villages. However the decline appears to have been precipitated by the introduction of car park charges. I can, and do walk over with family, but no major shopping, need a car for that. Ironically the car park has been mostly empty nearly every time I've been there, yet the surrounding streets are always rather full.

Many of the shops are closing down because the place is going to be demolished early next year.

The Chorlton Cross shopping centre is being run down. For years there were rumours of the centre & office blocks being demolished for a housing development & it seems the pandemic lockdown has accelerated this.Several longstanding outlets never reopened after COVID, & several have closed since leaving many vacant shops. Boots are closing in November, leaving only Quality Save, Costa Coffee, Frosts Butchers, Timpsons locksmiths & one fruit & veg shop left. The other two are charity shops. It's a shame the shopping centre's been allowed to become rundown because of super high rents & business rates making shops uncompetitive, & driving customers away. It seems this has been done by design.

Where have all the bakeries gone? Most of the shops are closed down, presumably in anticipation of the proposed redevelopment.

Used to have better shops/more of a community feel etc—but I've heard it's being knocked down soon, so maybe nobody cares anymore? Shame.

Lovely little shopping centre in the heart of Chorlton. Easy access by car/bike/tram/bus/walking. Could do with more bicycle parking though and making it more secure. Other than that, absolutely lovely.

Apart from the amazing Butchers this is quite a sad little arcade. Still, I'd prefer it to the proposed 200+ flats that some twattish developer is wanting to build.
